I thought the same thing, tambo. To an teen or 20-something-year-old, a 10-year-old roller coaster is a classic.

If you wanted to blast this kid whose father recently passed away, you could have told him how crappy SOB was, and destroyed his opinion that it was a good ride.

I personally hated the ride, by the way.

But the point remains nonetheless - parks and coasters created "shared memories"...to the parks, the fact that the rides are a major part of their business is unchanged, but to individuals who have understandable emotional attachements, they are more than "just another roller coaster". And frankly, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things if this young man enjoyed The Voyage with his father or if it was Hercules/Son of Beast/Hurricane: Cat5 - he shared some special moments with his father and those are important. Son of Beast, no matter how "we" feel or the park management feels, played an important part in creating those fond memories of time he spent with his father.

Thanks for posting, Corey...

My comments weren't meant to be malicious. I was expressiong my opinion just as he was. But, yeah, I guess it might have gotten my post across better had I prefaced it with my additional opinion of how crappy the ride is compared to others at the park.
