You guys suck hard! lol
I don't need to try to fit in. I've been in for longer than most. That's a phrase that I often use with my tongue firmly pressing against my cheek. It's a funny expression. (roll eyes) (laugh out loud) (Say, "Oh Jeeze" with a big smile)

We mentioned yesterday wouldnt the law of physics say if you pulled out the right boards the whole structure should collapse??? Rideman????
You would have to pull an awful lot of boards. Coasters are not optimized structures, which is a complicated way of saying that they are overbuilt.
You want to take the ride down in a spectacular collapse, though? Remove the lower sections of selected bents to essentially turn the thing into an optimized structure, then use some demolition method to remove the remaining structure and use gravity to bring the whole thing down. It's the same thing they do when they implode buildings.
That said, I think it would be a terrible waste. Personally, I would rather see them pull a Kennywood and turn it into an amazing coaster. I have to think that the most massive parts of that structure (i.e. the lift hill and first drop, perhaps some of the other sections) could be salvaged and turned into the basis of a decent ride. A decent ride NOT named Son of Beast, which was a stupid name when they picked it.

I knew you'd know the exact answer to that question Dave! Thanks!
I didn't even think of Steel Phantom/Phantoms Revenge until you mentioned that!!! If KI could get some decent trains (PTC) and a better designer (anyone!!!) the coaster could be redone.
But Steel Phantom was a popular coaster (it always ranked in the top ten steel even with the loops) Yes, it was rough, but in a Vortex type way, not in a way which caused physical harm such as SOB had/has been accused.
It made sense that KW would try to take a popular ride and make it even better. Which they definitely did! :)|
Was SOB ever a top ten woodie?
I can hear a money hungry attorney now, "despite X amount of people getting hurt on this ride, the park continued to operate it anyway, knowing the danger" Yikes, that even sounds expensive! :(
The way I look at it, the previous incidents and lawsuits that happened were Paramount's problem.
But the latest incident and guaranteed pending lawsuit is CFs problem. It is far cheaper for them to razz the ride then to have to worry about something else happening and someone else getting hurt-or worse.
Put a bandaid on a piece of crap, you still have a piece of crap.

I have only heard of the park untill now.
Sometime soon, I am going to do a lake compounce, six flags, great escape and now just added.....Canobie park.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Exactly the opposite. It never made it out of the bottom 10.

Hi everyone, new here coming from the T-dot. Have browsed these forums for a couple of years but never really took the time to post. Listen to the podcast weekly, great job guys!
Last summer 3 friends and myself decided to do a Kings Island/Cedar Point Trip. It is about 8 hrs from Toronto to Kings Island. I remember when we were trying to decide which parks to visit, finding out that Kings Island had the Beast/Son of Beast combo did factor into our decision to go there. I knew the reputation the Beast had, but the Son of Beast looked like something pretty unique. The thing looked almost too big to be made out of wood.
During our two days at Kings Island, we rode Son of Beast more than any other ride. It gave us the thrill of never really feeling at ease. Every ride depending on where you sat gave you a different level of intensity. Having only been to Wonderland at that point (not amazing woodies), we all enjoyed our experience on SOB.
My only reason in sharing this is because I think the ride has a lot of potential. If it needs to be smoothed out then fine, but I have yet to see another more impressive looking ride. The Beast and SOB gave the park a pretty cool "feel". There must be someway of altering the ride. Maybe something along the lines of how they changed Steel Phantom into the Phantom's Revenge. Not sure how much more difficult that is to do with Wood.
My 2 cents, thx for reading :)
