If you're a coaster enthusiast that's not a valid excuse. You should know about or have seen every movie that involves coasters.
I could hardly contain myself!!! I mean I love that coaster! I ride it at least 3 times eveytime I visit....!! I will say it just sucks that it may be torn down!
I actully liked SOB. I rode it before the loops was taken out and thought it was a good ride as long as in sat in the first seat first row. Anywhere else and you got beaten up. I do not like the beast at all. It was very rough. I swear I blacked out on it., cause I don't even remember anything after the 2nd lift hill.

I'll take "Things I Never Thought I'd Read" for $1000, Alex. ;)
vallyfair,, it is a great ride 999.99 percent of the people that ride it love it! It is that small percent that ARE NOT HEALTHY AND SHOULD NOT BE RIDING RIDES THAT WILL MAKE GOOD COASTERS GO AWAY. I will say that I feel great after riding coasters! SOB is excellent! Ya its ruff Ya it is fast,,,, that is exaclty what people want! I have seen over and over people who have serious medical conditions who should not be on rides insist to ride them. There are signs telling people if you are pregnant ,,high blood pressure etc... dont ride the ride!!! But no,, it is like they want to ride it,, I will just pop my newborn out on the floor because I want to ride it !!! Please!!!!! People like this are destroying it for everyone! Cedar Fair needs to have people fill out a waiver if they insist on riding with pre-existent medical problems and if they get hurt they cannot come back on Cedar Fair! Maybe they should even have it recorded for the illiterate people who do not read! If you stand in front of a train and get hit do you destroy all trains because you chose to take that chance! If a woman bunji jumps and dislodges her kid while 7 months pregnant should we destroy bunji cords! People need to be reponsible! I also feel anyone who is drinking are banned from rides,, you cannot drive a car drunk why should I get vomited on because they chose to get drunk! I have had to face that before and it ruined my coaster experience because I never knew when I may gets vomited on! SAVE THE SON OF BEAST!
We heard you the first time, THUNDERSTORM. Please, go practice the art of paragraph breaks and come back when you are ready. We'll wait. Go, go...
As for the concept of health and riding, it always make me laugh a little when anyone goes on about the types of situations that have occurred with SOB. I figure they are indicative of a young person.
When you are young, illness seems rather obvious. You're either sick or you're not. As you get older, health becomes a little more obscure. Things you used to be able to do suddenly become more difficult. You get pains you never had before. And some of those issues that remained hidden throughout your younger years when you could marathon any coaster you wanted, suddenly appear out of nowhere.
It's kind of silly to accuse someone who experienced a burst blood vessel in the brain of ignoring health warnings and riding a coaster regardless. Do you really think she knew she was at risk?

Moosh, did you see Final Destination 3??????
Oh just for that:
Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax Aquatrax! :)
Coaster Junkie from NH
I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!
I'm not a horror movie fan, so no. And you can say "Aquatrax" all day long...it's not gonna bother me.
Carrie,, you do have a point. A bloodvessle can rupture actually at any age and it is sad.
I am sorry, I really love this coaster though and to think it may go away like Geauga Lake and other parks coasters makes me feel bad. Then again i am sure there is a lot more pain one goes through to lose a loved one that is beyond comparrison!
Age is a factor and to be truthful I rode the Villan at Geauga Lake the last days before the park closed, it was abusive because of disrepair. The raging wolf Bobs were even worse.I rode that coaster just before it was closed early in the last season.
I am sorry to go on you are so right in your post. I guess the time I had seen that pregnant lady try to get on a coaster and abuse the lady who told her no, angered me and I just posted a selfish type response. I also have seen people do stupid things that could get themselves hurt and that clouds my outlook on this situation.
I went to CP with a relative who was one blood thinners and recently had a racing heart incident. He insisted on riding Magnum and I really felt bad that I kept telling him no and he insisted! Again though this clouded my judgement and if there is a posing threat by mafuntion of a ride, I would never want to see people get hurt enjoying themselves, neither would the really nice staff I have met at kings Island...sorry again!
You have a good heart and it shows,,thanks and sorry.

It's cool, just chill and enjoy the ride!
Thanks, THUNDERSTORM. And no need to apologize...several times. ;)
It is much easier to hear what you have to say when you break your post up into smaller bites. Thank you.
People do stupid things all the time. And it is most definitely mind-numbing to watch it happen. But that's not what has happened with SOB. And there really is a level at which things become too rough for the average rider. SOB flirts with that line at the very least.
KI isn't going to consider removing the ride if they aren't getting that kind of feedback. They have to think about the experience of the majority of their guests, not just the hardcore ones. :)
And Moosh... all I want is a stinkin' hug!!! ;)

Villain actually wasn't that bad in its final season of existence. As for RWB -- which had been a kidney mauler prior to its three-year full retracking -- it was virtually as smooth as silk at the end (before the accident that shortened its last year, obviously).

I will say the Villan was better in the first part of the season then later in the season. Weather conditions and many factors can change the ride of a coaster. People have told me a coaster is faster on a damp cool day. I did not like the switchback at the end of RWB I mean I could stand it, but if you are prone to back problems it may cause a little tension.
I missed the loop on SOB, it was wierd to get use to it not being there the first few years after riding it with a loop.
When I rode RWB come to think of it there was only one part that was ruff,,probably the same place the track or maybe even the car was messing up,who knows ,,,,GEAUGA LAKE will be missed,, it was not KI or CP but it had its own appeal.
Some of the Raptor crew and I were at Kings Island yesterday and we went into EVERY single gift shop and there was NO, NONE, NADDA, ZIP SOB merchandise ANYWHERE!!!
The only thing we found was a SOB shot glass that was part of a set.
With that being said I would be willing to bet SOB is done.
We mentioned yesterday wouldnt the law of physics say if you pulled out the right boards the whole structure should collapse??? Rideman????
