Geauga Lake announces water park and other attraction plans

I am not certain that there won't be a seperate gate at some point, using WOF and OOF as an example. It seems odd that one company would use two totally different philosophies. I wonder what the reasoning is???

Actually, the theory of "dead rides during daytime" has been proven at Geauga Lake since the early 80s, when Boardwalk Shores (the park's first waterpark, and the country's first included with admission waterpark) opened.

Also, the complaining about not enough attractions, or specific attractions, is a little too much. There's going to be enough space to add-on after phase II is complete. Give 'em time to get this part done.

Its time to get over the whole "name recycling" issue. In the golden age of coasters there were literally hundreds of Wildcats, Thunderbolts, Dippers, and Cyclones. There were parks called White City, Luna Park, and even Coney Island all across the world.

It wasn't an issue then and it is not an issue now.

That's what I was thinking Gonch. Then again, from a business standpoint, why not? It obviously works for Dorney and at their roots, both parks seem very similar, one just ran in with the wrong crowd for a couple of years ;) Rehab over ...

Hehehe. ;) Knowing that though takes some of the wow factor off what seemed like a cheap price for the GL add-on to the CP season pass. Ah well - can't afford it either way for now...

It's great to hear about the refurbishing of The Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs. I hope they send another G train over to the Bobs and get new ones for The Villain.

$19.95 until the waterpark opens? That's insane. Great move by Cedar Fair.

Let's just hope that the GL coasters aren't trimmed like Thunderhawk. Thunderhawk the WOOD coaster, that is ;)

Are they going to use the old Wildlife gate for the new waterpark in '06?

This is a brilliant move by Cedar Fair. Reassures my thoughts that Cedar Fair should have bought Geauga Lake the first time...:)

Going by the illustration, I think they are going to use the Sea World gate in 2005.

I could swear that my rides on Thunderhawk in August were untrimmed.

I don't see where they would trim Villain if they decided too. If they do before the "MCBR".. Well lets just say, it JUST makes it up there as it is... I don't think they would risk it.

Thunderhawk has a brake on the second to last bunny hill on its return to the station, it kills a lot of speed. You dont feel it so much in the front.

I dont see where a trim would be installed on Villain either, the ride doesnt need it.

Yawn....another waterpark...who cares...how about some entertaining flat rides. Even funnier...weather in the midwest has been miserable through the last few summers...I cannot think of more that 5 or 6 days of the summer that might have required a trip to the water park. Anyone notice that Soak City was empty all summer long...I don't think it had anything to do with the seperate admisson price. Bring on a coaster, a flat ride...something...screw the waterparks!

Not sure if you're talking about Soak City at Cedar Point...but, if you are, then you couldn't be more wrong. Soak City was packed all summer long. I was floored the few times I went there on my day off to see how busy it was. I think the new addition at GL makes perfect sense in their overall strategy.

Like Steve said earlier, the last thing Villain needs is trims. Re-tracking sounds great, and I know what would complement that perfectly. Let's make it as good as Ghostrider like it should be. Give us some PTC's!

I feel the expansion will be great when finished in 2006. I feel if Cedar Fair Gets a good response for this year's improvements, not only will we see Phase 2 in 2006, but a long awaited hypercoaster.

I am really happy, what amazing changes to the park! I have a question there was a link above of what things should look like, is it me or does it look like it takes up most of the old Sea World Side? Also as a pondering question if they are moving that hurrican hannahs slides, (whatever it was called, i don't visit the water areas too much) there will be a spot left over for something right? hmm...I think Geauga Lake has its head on straight in bringing the park back to life!
