Geauga Lake announces water park and other attraction plans

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Geauga Lake today announced the addition of Wildwater Kingdom, a 20-acre water park on the former Sea World site that will include new attractions like a ProSlide Tornado, as well as relocated rides from the old water park.

"Robots of Mars" will occupy the Harbour Theater, while "Escape From Dino Island" will be the new simulator ride. General rehabilitation, including retracking of the Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs will be extensive throughout the park.

Perhaps most noteworthy is the new $24.95 standard admission price for the 2005 season.

If The Canadians(TM) do the same kind of work they did for Blue Streak (feel those upstops slam up on the track?), we're in for a great time.
This is now a much better deal than Wyandot Lake. In fact it blows it away. Can't wait to ride those retracked rides next year. I havn't been to GL yet. I have a trip planned for next year.
The deal with the OOF/WOF thing is that the waterpark has always been a seperate admission from the ride park. Here the GP is used to having the waterpark included, if you take that away from them, then you will have people out for your head.

This is a great move for GL. I always thought the waterpark there was a bit crammed in there and just seemed like it was plopped down in an odd spot.

Now I'd like to see an adult area and a tornado at the Original Wildwater Kingdom.;)

^ I'd like to second that!
Personally I've never understood why Wildwater Kingdom (at Dorney Park) has always been rated so high when there are much better water parks like Waterworld in Denver and so on. I guess it just because Dorney Park is a highly visited park and Wildwater Kingdom is free. I could also be because it's one of my home parks...anyways sorry for going off topic; it's just one of those things that is so easy to do.

geneticfreak, did you read the press release? There is an adult pool with a swim up bar coming with phase 2.
There is only one good thing about the location of the waterpark, which will be gone as of 2006. That one thing is being next to Big Dipper, which gave that part of the park somewhat of a boardwalk feeling.

Working the rides adjacent to Hurricane Mountain this past summer, I am glad they decided to move it. As fun as it was working next door to the water park, I hate the location of the slides.

eightdotthree, he did read the press release...you just didn't read his post. He said "original" Wildwater Kingdom, as in the one at Dorney. And I would agree with him on Dorney needing a tornado (every water park should have one). Dorney's water park was only second to the two Disney parks.

Now back on topic, I was first disappointed about not having a new coaster, but upon really looking at what they were doing made me think otherwise. The new additions, along with the new admission price, has caused me to renew me CP pass, and get the combo option. Now it wouldn't be hard at all to get some friends to go to a park with me at only $25 a ticket.

You cant beat the price for all that you get! An all day pass on Manhattan Express is more than that!

Opps, my bad. Didnt catch that "Original" meant Dorney.
here's one issue ... if I goto Wildwater Kingdom most of the day, till near the closing time at 7pm (which is most likely what I'll be doing), and then we goto the other side for a few rides at night till the park closes at 10pm....we have to walk ALL THE WAY back to our cars on the opposite side? Isn't that one of the main problems everyone but myself complained about that came up when even after CF bought the park?

Will GL have shuttles from one parking lot to the other?

midwave...

Is there anything you won't complain about Geauga Lake? Exercise is good for you anyways...

I think this is a great move by CF, after experiencing PKI's Boomerang Bay this summer water parks is what's 'IN.' Phase II will only solidify Geauga Lake as being THE water park to go to in Northern Ohio. $24.95 is just ridiculous but you better believe I'll be going out of my way to hit up GL a few times this year... especially with the rehab on Wolf Bobs and Villain.

But PLEASE leave the single position lap bars and the NADs on Big Dipper :(

you know, if you used your head, you would park on the rides side and walk over to WWK, then maybe take the ferry boat to hurricane hannahs if you want to go to the wave pool or something, then when all is said and done, your on the rides side and you'll leave on the rides side. if your gonna ride then waterpark, park on the waterpark side. then when your done at the waterpark, your already near your lot. just seems sensible to do it that way. thats how i'm gonna do it
Just ignore midwave. He posts on a coaster enthusiast message board and claims to have enjoyed going to Geauga at one time in the past, but seems to find nothing redeeming about the park since it's CF purchase, and of course, hates roller coasters and rides.

If you can go to a waterpark for the day, you can walk your lazy rear end back to your car. It's a longer walk from Mean Streak to the middle of CP's parking lot than it is from any point in GL to either parking lot (I believe).

actually, frome the ski stadium, all the way around the boardwalk, the up and through power city, all the way to the main gate, then a walk to the middle of the parking lot, is a hell of a hike. but who cares. the point is if one can walk and ride, or walk and slide, then one can walk to one's ride.
God, if you're too freakin lazy to walk from one side of the park to another, maybe you shouldn't go to the park. How do you normally get around, a golf cart? Of course you'll have to walk! That is the dumbest thing I've seen on here in, well, like 5 min., but still!

Jeesh!

Its not the park's fault you parked where you did. My god, do you want them to shake it for you and wipe your behind in the restroom as well?

LMAO at HeyIsntThatRob, geaugalake2005, TeknoScorpion & Impulse-ive....do you read posts completely before you reply....maybe you'd realize you made useless points to someone that never complained about that subject ...you guys are hilarious! ROFLMAO!

midwave said:we have to walk ALL THE WAY back to our cars on the opposite side? Isn't that one of the main problems everyone but myself complained about that came up when even after CF bought the park?

I realize that you said "problems everyone but myself complained about". 'Complained'. Past tense. The way you worded your thread now seems to indicate you are complaining, esp with "ALL THE WAY" capitalized.

midwave did not say: some people are going to complain because THEY have to walk all the way back to THEIR cars...I'M not complaining...

Were you not complaining then you wouldn't have talked in the first person, but you would have said words like 'They' or 'Their'. If you would have worded it correctly, then maybe there wouldn't be any 'confusion'

*rolls eyes*
