Six Flags Over Texas to add 325 foot S&S tower for 2003

Everything is big in Texas. So why should an S&S Tower be any different.

Wow that's huge. Sounds like an awesome ride and a great thing for SFOT. Esspecially considering they're not getting a new coaster this year.

Hmmm... Park officials won't comment, but S&S is talking about it? Doesn't that seem odd?

Is the parachute drop then going to be a relic?

Not a bad choice for SFOT,& the price at $10 -$12 million isn't that bad either,it leaves at least $15 million for the rest of the chain which is plenty of money if budgeted wisely for a few other attractions at other key locations.

Good news and Bad news... The name for this thing is stupid : Superman - Tower of Power. It is going into the Tower / Boomtown section- something the General Manager fought against, (he wanted it in Gotham area) but some fool at Corporate won out. The name "High Noon" was bantered about by local coaster buffs- would fit much better. Should be a fun ride. I wonder why S&S is saying that this ride is so different (other than the height) ???? Regardless of the name we are glad to get it- we expected nothing since the park performed so poorly. The poor perfomance should mostly be blamed on our economy- the Park itself was very good this year....

Could it feature some of those new tilting seats?

My guess would be the new tilting seats also.

S&S has been REALLY been talking/bragging about their newly redesigned seat tilting system. They so far have seemed to perfected the old system from seeing the tests (ones uses on Vertigo and the like). They have said their new system can be modifed to all their towers. It's a great idea for those parks that already have drop rides or power shots, if they want to upgrade them they can. I think S&S is REALLY going to be getting on a role within the next year now...

Please don't believe much of anything BFSFA talks about. He loves to spread rumors and gobbly-gook. $15 million for the rest of the chain? How much do you think the three B&M rides are costing? And, that's before you add any other unannounced attraction/s.

Yeah, I heard a few weeks ago that half of the towers would have 30 degree tilting seats. In the future, S&S said future models could tilt as much as 60 degrees!

The ride is going to placed where the oft-moved scrambler sits in the back of the park. It will sorta muck up the themeing to put this there since it's a bit far from the Batman and Freeze ride, I can see how Steve Calloway would be frustrated with the location/name. They tried to bring a lot of the traditional Texas flavor back to the park last year which had been slowly eroded by Six Flags corporate. Just why ARE the guys from Oklahoma such boneheads about themeing? The scrambler itself may be moving to France (the themed area, not the country).

So doesn't make this ride tied for height with Knott's Supreme Scream? This ride is rumored to be 320', more or less, which comes very close to Supreme Scream's 325' peak.

This is great. S&S largest ride (meaning # of towers). I can't see how this will turn out. ;)

I want one at great adventures now. Forget the acrophobia this one would do better a 4 tower 300+ ride is good. The superman name is different and original atleast. I will like to see this over here on the east.

Actually jayrider, the gyro's are much more thrilling. Many can attest to that. And remember the commandment, "Thou shalt not covet" :)

This one will be taller than Knott's ride, they specifically are gunning for the tallest S&S tower.

They are referring to launch height. Knott's may be 325 feet tall but it only launches to 254. If they claim this will be the tallest, the launch would have to go higher than 254, which can be easily done. It is amazing to look at my local tower (Detonator @ WOF...the first "Multi Tower"only space shot) and how much distance there is between the maximum launch height and the top of the tower or the marquee. More recent towers that I have seen come much closer to the top tiers.
