Vertical Velocity spike completed at Marine World

SFMW Online posts several photos of the new front spike of Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Marine World. Construction looks to be complete and it's quite a difference! The retractable floor that is supposed to be added to the station has not yet been started.

Like I said before I think it looks really bad. It's more straight than curvy.

I dunno, I think that the new twist looks wicked. I think they could have made the spike more twisty instead of straight, but still... it looks like it will be fun.

Well, it looks wierd because we are not used to it as opposed to the other impulses.

I an wondering if they can market that new twist as a zero g-roll. It sure looks like one.

That is the sorriest looking coaster I have ever seen! It may have a decent ride but that is just so sorry looking that even if it did give the greatest ride ever I wouldnt want it in my home park.

Blech!

Going trough it 6 times seems pretty exciting to me (3 forwards, 3 backwards)

I would be more than glad if one of my parks would get that kind of Impulse and the look looks pretty wicked to me.

Is it indeed true that the mods were done in part because they overstepped their height bounds per zoning regulations? If true, it would be public record. It'd be nice if a local could check it out.

Going forward through the spiral might not be a big deal, but I've got to think that going backward is going to be pretty amazing.

Might I suggest that those of you who are knocking the reworking of V2 *ride* it first before making a judgement?? This may very well be the best version yet, or it could suck, but we won't know until the damn thing opens!

That certainly looks like an inversion to me. Why is RCDB advertising it as 0 inversions?

I think when you stop for that brief moment on this spike, it could be very uncomfortable depending on your orientation to the ground.

Jdancisin - there shouldn't be any discomfort when the train stops on the spike as there is enough straight track after the heartline for the entire train.

i was thinking that the twisted part was going to go all the way to the end, ah well.....maybe they shoud have just torn down the back spike too and made it a closed circuit ride.

If they put it in a hole, they would have had to completely take it apart. It sure wouldn't have been open this season.

I hope it gives a good ride, because it sure doesn't look that great...

I think it should be an inversion. I say 45 degrees or less (on a heartline) is an inversion. Anymore than that and its a spike.
