Six Flags Ohio becomes Six Flags Worlds of Adventure

So, I wonder what Universal Studios: Island of Adventure thinks of the name? ;)

So, apparently SF is bound and determined to have a similarly named park with all park chains.

What's next, Six Flags California Adventure?

Cool, although I would have picked a better name. Some will get this confused with Worlds of Fun.

The funny thing is that they just said in the X-Flight PR about the important branding of the park name. I guess they already changed their mind!

Wow... they sure are giving away the gate. I wonder how they are going to make money with this park. Oh well, cheap passes for us, just don't buy the food!

This is GREAT news! Now my yearly trips to Ohio will now become a three park destination rather than two. Considering I am currently armed with a SF season pass and Knott's season pass, I can seal my vacation plans. This rocks! ;)

I agree with the SFO side food, but I have always found the SW side to have awesome food and places to eat?

Sounds like their is quite a bit of expansion planned for SFWOA over the next couple of years. I am sure the Six FLags name in Ohio will continue to grow larger and larger.

WOW! That caught me completely off guard!

You know, I'm also concerned and going to loose endless hours of sleep over this...ummm yeah:

Last year they were trying to get rid of old GL stuff and make lots of new SFO stuff for the shops. Now, I have lots of SFO stuff of good quality. So are they going to try to get rid of the SFO stuff now also? A lot of people complained about them not haveing a lot of stuff to buy last year so I wonder if they were making lots of SFO stuff in the off season. This has to be a good nightmare for whoever is designing all there goods!

Anyone wanna guess what they'll change the name to in 2002. :)

But anyways i think this is going to be awesome. Especially since I read that Aurora (former SWO side) has virtually no restrictions for rides, height that is. So I totally think we're gonna see a hyper here in the next 2 to 3 yrs (but probably longer). This merge into one super-park will defintily help competition in Ohio and surrounding areas. The coaster wars just got more intense people. IMO. SFWoA just became a major regional player, with national player written all over the recent future. (That being the next 5yrs according to the press release)

Don't mess with the X in 01

SFWoA is still two disparate parks with little in common, and The Park Formerly Known As Six Flags Ohio Previously Formerly Known As Geauga Lake is still a park with some infrastructure and staffing issues.

I'll be waiting a few years to see if Six Flags can successfully address those issues, as well as integrate these parks, rather than spend itself right into bankruptcy court, before calling it a major national player.

It really sounds like Six Flags plans on sinking some major dollars into this park over the next couple of years. I guess that it's a given that they are going to try and make this one of their premier parks.

What on earth is it that's so attractive about Ohio for amusement parks? It's the only good thing about living here as far as I'm concerned.

That's exactly what they're hoping.

No one said it would be a major nationalpark I said it would be a national park(known throw out the usa) they already had adverts last year in western new york for SFO you don't think they will advertise a park that cost so much. X-flight called a major regional player with national player written all over it. No one ever compared in to a major national park like disney or universal.

I think slithernoggin brings up a good point. These are still two parks with different audiences, even if you can get into both for the same price. I went to SFO a dozen times last year, but never once SWO.

However, what makes this park extremely attractive at this point is that there really is something for everyone now. Every member of the family has something to see. The park suddenly is something that Cedar Point should be fairly alarmed about.

Now, as the local press goes, especially local reaction, the park has their work cut out for them. It's no secret that operationally SFO had a less than spectacular reputation. SWO was generally much better, so here's hoping that the influence flows in the proper direction.

Jeff i Don't think it will take customer's away from CP but add alot more there, IOA does not kill disney's attendance. OHIO is the place to be for the next few year's, thank god i live so close.
