Six Flags Ohio will announce the construction of X-Flight, a Vekoma Flying Dutchman model roller coaster, this afternoon in a press conference. The ride will be 115 feet tall and have 3,340 feet of track.

Yea!!!...'Bout time. Wow, SixFlagsOhio, IMO, has the most unique/quality coasters. Also, did anyone read that X-Flight will be longer than the original and have more inversions. Paramount was dumb in letting this deal go sour.

I really, really hate this name!
Well, the article states that no other new attractions are "planned" for this year, and I am scared because it says that Big Dipper will get a "new Control system"
Will Six Flags lose the only Ace Coaster Classic they have or not?

I wonder why anyone would buy a flying coaster when the prototype was not so hot?

They could have been a bit more creative with the name, i personaly thought it was gonna be by BKF and be themed to poison ivy, but i guess not.

Ron Toomers Revenge: Maybe Stealth was not that hot to you, but did you have to stand in the 3.5 hour lines that were a daily thing at PGA? If that does not make for a hit (at least with the GP), I don't know what does!
As for the name, everyone was bashing Six Flags for using superhero names, now that they are doing something else, the bash continues. Make up your minds people. Besides, who cares about the name? They could call it "Little Mary Sunshine's Trip To Grandma's House" and the ride would be the same.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!

I don't think the Dipper will lose its ACE Coaster classic state, as long as the lapbars remain the same and no headrests are added.
Anyone know more?

I appreciate a park that takes the time to develop a unique name for a coaster. Six Flags likes it's Batman and Superman and Viper etc too much. Let's see, so far we have X and X-Flight...what's next, X2? X-calibur? X-speed?

Har! That was funny!
But more seriously, an Ace coaster classic stays a classic if it is still manually braked and has no computer controls, thats why I fear the worst. Trains of course matter, too.

Hey Soggy, I like that name! It's a great name for a coaster imo. ;) No seriously, I think the name X-Flight is good. At least it's not Joker's Revenge or something like that. Superhero names are done to death. Time for something new. As for the new coaster, I am also glad it's not Stealth. While Stealth is a great ride, and very popular with the GP, it was underwhelming imo, and as far as I'm concerned it was bested by Medusa at SFMW. I just hope that I can get to Ohio in the near future. Peace. :)

Hymmmm... No mention of a seperate loading and unloading station. Well, hopefully it will run 3 trains. This is a MAJOR step foward for the underdog Ohio park. S:UE, Villain, B:KF and now X-flight gives SFO quite a robust line up. Six Flags works like a tornado.

Stealth was a good ride, not a great ride. It was unique in that it introduce the "flying" coaster and to tell you the truth im very happy that Vekoma will be making some improvements to the design and layout. WHO CARES WHAT THEY CALL THE THING!!!!!!!!!!
