Life without Shockwave?
Man, people like to complain a lot in this forum. There's a lot of things I could do without in this world, too, but I'm not going to bore you with the details of them.
As for Shockwave, it seems most people can suck it up, and ride it despite this horrible, horrible pain it causes. And these people aren't 'enthusiasts' who have been on tons of rides, they are the general public. It's not up to you whether a ride stays or goes, but them, and the number of them that still ride it. Welcome to democracy, majority rules. Shockwave is a good, POPULAR coaster, with a long future ahead of it.

How can you call SW a POPULAR coaster? Sure it gets riders but I rarely see lines on it (or IW for that matter) that are longer than 15-20 minutes on the busiest of days.
And before you ask, I go to GAm quite often...I was there both days last weekend and will be there again on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday (on the way to-from my company's office in Milwaukee). Gotta love having a boss who allocates a 1/2 day to drive 1.5 hrs ;)

Is the practically identical The Great American Scream Machine @ SFNJ just as un-themed or just lik Shock Wave a parking lot coaster as well? The first two arrow multi-element coasters boast the exact same track layout with the exception of GASM being the slight bigger of the two. So is are the transitions on GASM just as bad as Shock Wave? Because I've heard horror stories about the pain as trains slam into that 90° curve after the first loop. I'm glad Viper does a complete 180° turn after the first loop, or else I'd be having by head checked after every ride!
Yeah, Shock Wave hurts a little, but isn't it worth a great ride? I mean I think it's a fair trade: A little headache for a few minutes for a great ride. I love Shock Wave. I will be mad if they ever close it or remove it. If they want to put in a big coaster, then scrap something else, not Shock Wave.

Sorry to reveal myself as a novice in the world of coaster enthusiasts, but aren't the shoulder restraints there to prevent you from falling out during the inversions? Given that the ride has 7 of them I would think that this would be the last ride to get lap bars. Actually, given what happened on Demon, maybe I don't want lap bars after all.
The Shockwave isn't all that popular. Most people know (not just coasterholics) that it's a very rough ride. The Demon seems like it had alot more popularity.
The Shocker would be great if they removed the harnesses (hope this becomes a standard) and it could use a little sprucing up. Maybe a tunnel somewhere!? The parking lot it was built over can still be seen easily. Rip it out! Putting in some dirt, grass and trees would be nice.
One thing that's cool is that a few years ago, GA put in all the fixtures, tubes, walkways, etc. for a trim brake after the first loop, but never put the brake in!
I can't help but still feel that if Ron Toomer had ridden some of his rides, most Arrow's would be better. Does Premier ride their rides?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A coaster has gotten stuck upside down with just lap bars, and there was no serious injury or death. MUCH less injury, in fact, than when the Demon got stuck upside down with OTSRs! When I saw that, I realized that OTSRs serve no real purpose on traditional looping coasters, and lap bars would be just as safe, if not safer.
