Life without Shockwave?

I know for a fact some of you down right hate my "Shock 'em Wave" but can you imagine Great America without it. It is an icon for those entering the park. It was the first of it's kind. It would kind of be like tearing down the Racer or something.

Well, its true that the ride got a bad rep. But, I don't think its going anywhere. Numbers are still high and maintenance is low.

The ride scrambles my brain...but really, if it had lap bars, I thik it would be amazing. I hope they consider it since everyone seems to be in love with Flight of Fear now...I too can't imagine the park with out Shockwave (although a floorless would look nice in it's spot...Just Kidding!!)

That is true, I realy don't think it is going anywhere, but I was just wondering if anyone else would mourn it.
I would definately mourn for Shockwave if, dread the thought, it were to be removed. It was my first big coaster, first loop, and was originally my favorite at SFGAm. Maybe if all you Shockwave haters could sit up strait, you might be able to keep your head over the OTSRs. It's a lot smoother than a couple years ago. Hopefully it can stay that way.

Some people are not that tall.

There are currently 11 coasters with the name Batman, 8 with the name Superman and 22 with the name Boomerang. Batman and Superman: The Ultimate Chiller Knight Flight Krypton Escape Ride.
Sit in the back people!! The back!!
I said maybe for a reason. I understand some people aren't to tall, but I found out first hand last year the differance between sitting like I do in school, and sitting with good posture. It made Shockwave a much more enjoyable experience and brought it up a few spots on my list of top coasters.

Shockwave is my favorite SFGAm steel coaster, wooden going to a tie between Viper and American Eagle, and I love Shockwave. Sure it's a little bumpy and rough, but does a good coaster mean that it has to feel like you're riding on a cloud? I like it and it better not be going any where.

If they could just go in and redesign the turn before the block brakes it would be perfect...VOLA!
I would love to be the person to start the demolition of this ride! Miss it? Not for a second. From day one I've disliked this ride. I've tried riding front, back, middle, you name it, and I still come off that ride with a major headache. Now I avoid it at all costs.

When the SFGAm rumors started I was was hoping for the demise of Shockwave. I'm still hoping it comes down - soon. I wouldn't mind a floorless although with Bull there I don't see that happening. Maybe a flying or 4th dimension? One can only hope.

No, a good coaster doesn't have to feel like you're riding a cloud but it also shouldn't feel like your being hit in the head with a hammer either.

No DEK, I will be the one to start demolition! I demand it! Maybe Arrow should have waited 5 years for computer technology to advance. Maybe even longer, I don't know how good CAD programs were in 1993. If they would have waited for the 3 Six Flags mega-loopers, I'm sure they would have been much smoother with better transisions.

I hope that it comes down before the Whizzer does. I would want it replaced with a B&M Flying coaster, but that I doubt, because they have a B&M inverted... Although, now that I think about it, so does Alton Towers. If I had to, I would gladly settle for a floorless to replace it. Who knows, if it does come down soon, maybe a giga would be put in and run along the front edge of the park.

Now, on the other side, I doubt it will be taken down. I always see it open, with 3 trains in the morning and afternoon, and 2 in the envening when people start going home. This means ridership is steady. It is a near walk on all the time, but only once have I been able to walk on anywhere but the last 2 cars. Also, I'm sure it isn't a matainence nightmare. It is only 13 years old, so it can't be in that bad of condition.

I hate noise in these message boards.
If you dont like it, then by all means, pass it, ignore it, pretend it doesnt exist. You arent forced to get on it so let it remain for the people that enjoy riding it. I personally think its a decent Arrow looper. I want to continue riding it so leave it alone.

I love this ride. I am about 5'10, and its a nice ride for me, not to rough, jusk keep your head in the middle, and in the back. But if it goes i would like to see another arrow ride, like X, or somethin big

I can imagine life without shockwave, and it is a beautiful thought. Everytime I go to park I ride it once, with the naive hope that "maybe today I won't be put in pain".......but it still has not happened. Hey, maybe this year!!

Droog,

I am with you on the "...I ride it once, with the naive hope that maybe today I won't be put in pain..." but for me it is once a season (along with Wolfie)...

I'm with you redman once a season for both wolfie and shock wave. I know Chitown made the comment that if we don't like we should just pass it up, but to me its taking up valuable coaster space. Maybe tear it out rake out the area that it is, plant some grass and I agree build a floorless or a flying or even a new arrow looper whatever it takes or at least get rid of those dreaded harnesses.

It wouldn't break my heart to find Shockwave replaced by another coaster....

Believe me, I love Shockwave, and I hope it doesn't go anywhere soon. But try to Imagine how a better looper can fit in it's place. Maybe a B&M sitdown with 7-8 inversions. Maybe a flying dutchman. Do you know what kind of coasters can fit in it's place? That's why I wouldn't care to see it go, because I know an even bigger and better coaster will fill it's place.

Deja Vu, and V2, what more can you want? SFGAm #1
I should probably switch to your system Redman, I am just too stubborn i guess. Iron wolf though I only ride once a season. That ride is on a whole other level of pain above shockwave. Aside from the ride itself, Shockwave has to have the most god-awful setting for a rollercoaster, the parking lot!!! Jeez, put some trees near the corkscrews or something.
