Hersheypark announced Fahrenheit

I'm not one to complain about ride names, but that's friggin' horrible.

The ride, however, looks ridiculously great. :)

This ride looks so awesome. It's looks way better than Maverick.

The ride does look cool. It's too bad I can't say the same about the animation. I guess they haven't heard of VIP yet. :)

I liked the tie in with "97 degrees and falling fast" though. That was clever.

Above all though, I'm thoroughly impressed with the amount of effort they put into "teasing" the enthusiast community and actually giving away the ride layout before the announcement. Kudos to them for that. Even though they didn't see any direct financial gain from it, I'm impressed they cared.

Fahrenheit is worse than what SFStL picked? You're kidding... right? ;)

Looks nice. I played the first video without looking at the layout too much and had no idea that the lift hill was completely vertical. I kept waiting for the 97-degree drop, not realizing it already happened! I'm just about as excited as I can be about an Intamin ride. Seems like a smaller Maverick.

Kind of underwhelming after that whole game. Was that really necessary for an announcement of this type of coaster? Not my cup 'o tea.

Looks like a very fun ride, though...but aside from the vertical lift, similar in thrills to Maverick.

Worst feature: Over the shoulder restraints.

Oddly enough, that pretzel looking element is awfully similar (as in pretty much the same thing) to a bit of the ride I submitted to the "Catch A Free Ride To College" RCT3 contest.

Hmm . 2008 will be an interesting year in the north east.

Hershey park getting this, great adventure getting a dark ride, and dorney park getting that new coaster.

I hope I have enough time to visit the three parks.

^^ Did you happen to base that element on the B&M pretzel loop? It reminds me of that, at least the basic shape.

I believe its called a Norweigian Loop, and is already in existance.

Worse? Probably not, but at least the stuntman/thrill thing is there.

I find it hard to be impressed, awed or intimidated by a unit of temperature measure.

It's admittedly nitpicking. :)

Ironic how the area is losing a coaster called The Chiller but gaining a ride called Fahrenheit.

I guess cold is out and heat is in?

I thought Intamin was stealing from me again. ;)

2 questions:

1) Why the over-head restraints. They are unecessary and, taken off Maverick, would vastly improve the experience.

2) If the coaster gets stuck on the vertical lift at the top, how do you get off?

A pole? A "slide down"?

I cast my vote for a slide. I hear Morey's Pier is getting rid of theirs.

Intamin is unable to design a lap bar that allows guests of exceptional size to ride and doesn't eject people from the ride. That's why the OTSRs.

I totally agree that their recent coasters would be amazing without them. Unfortunately for shorties like myself, they just end up being painful.

How about one of the 2 slides of the Merry Dip Fun Slides. I have never seen Hershey use both slides at once if it's even open at all.

I happen to think the lap bars on MF, TTD and El Toro are the best in the industry. Of all the coasters I've been on (130+), they are the most comfortable and provide the best coaster experience. So, they can design it.
