What Cedar Fair park should inherit "Big Dipper"?

^^ I know... in addition to being passionate about all that which interests me, I know there are times when I need to work on hearing the other side of the argument. I'm pretty sure anyone that frequently posts on this site- and is honest with themselves- will admit they are guilty of that from time to time. But I'm with you, no hard feelings. Differing viewpoints aside, we're all here because we enjoy something about this hobby, right?

CF said that the rides they don't want to relocate will be sold off. I'd expect most of the rides to be relocated though. The only ride that I really think that they will relocate will be Ragin Wolf Bobs. That ride was terrible. Big Dipper on the other hand would fit very nicely at some of the smaller CF parks. Possibly Valleyfair or WOF or something like that. All I really would like for BD is that no matter where it goes, it gets good care. I agree that it is a classic ride and should be saved. If it is sold off, it would probably fit in nicely at Knobles or a small park like that.

When did they say that? I thought the press release suggested the "no longer needed" parts of the park would be dismantled. Kinda like how Hercules was dismantled, I would assume.

Wasn't there some kind of meeting tonight about something to do with the park? Did anyone attend? Anything to report?

DelGrossos has been wanting to add a woodie for years. That would be the perfect new home for The Big Dipper!

Keep the small parks alive!

^ Oh heck yeah! Big Dipper to DelGrossos... and in my earlier thread expressed wishful (and completely unrealistic) thinking about Double Loop to Lakemont! All of this plus DelGrosso's "new" corkscrew and you could REALLY put Altoona and Tipton on the map!

Okay... unrealistic dreaming is over... back to reality now.

It has long been my understanding that DelGrosso's has always wanted a wood coaster but didn't have the room to build one. Of course, that doesn't explain how Revolution is going to fit there.

Maybe we need to introduce the DelGrosso's people to a certain wood coaster genius in Elysburg?

No idea. I haven't heard anything about the ride's placement. Not that it's all that huge, but it's not tiny either.

LOL, while Herc "plain sucked" from my VERY limited one-lap experience, I have a hard time calling Hydra a *better* ride. It's one of my least favorite B&Ms, and I'm generally not a huge fan of their rides to begin with....

Anyhow, who should get BD...ironically enough, I think I'd go with Dorney.. As long as it doesn't go to Valhalla, I'll be happy.

^^^ A corkscrew (Revolution) is not huge, but not tiny... but Delgrossos IS tiny. How much land do they own on the opposite side of the highway (parkinglot/waterpark/minigolf side)?

^^ Agreed with the comments on Hercules and "Hydra - the Mildly Annoying"... I mean "Hydra - The Revenge". Why couldn't Hercules hold on for a few more years until AFTER Geauga Lake was gone and Dorney had inherited Dominator (requiring a name change of course)! Now THAT would have been a floorless worthy to replace the once mighty Hercules! But hey... Hydra has a JoJo roll! (oooooh... ahhhhhh).

I don't see BD going to Dorney... too close to Thunderhawk (Dorney's coaster, not the old SLC). Now Villian on the other hand... I think I said it before... if Lazer would disappear to bereplaced by Villian, that would give Dorney the wood it needs since the departure of Hercules.

But also like I said before... forget about a recycled coaster (though they are getting Superman... er... Steel Venom... sorry, I mean Vodo), seeing how the park is not packed but the water park is, I will be satisfied if Dorney remains and that CF doesn't decide to Geauga this park too. *** Edited 9/25/2007 8:44:15 PM UTC by SLFAKE***

The big difference between Dorney and Geauga is the market they are in. The new coasters attract the out of towners looking for something new and the waterpark keeps the locals coming back. Not to mention they have are open early in the season and close late in the season when the waterpark is not open anymore, without the rides they would lose out on a lot of income.
