Several occupations here. Some paying and some not.

My main job is lead Prepress technician for a large commercial printer here on the east coast. Just celebrated 15 years with this fine place, but working for someone else sucks, so there's....

..Job #2 which is owning my own Graphic design business designing jobs in both print and online.

My third is co-owner of a startup business with my partner which is overseeing a new site for the bear community. Crossing fingers it works out so I can eliminate jobs 1 & 2 :).

What was I supposed to put here again?!?!

I learned AutoCAD in high school and understood the program like I was born to work with it.

My original thought was to become a CG Animator. While earning my Graphic Design degree, I found out that it's mostly contract work. :( I continued with my GD degree and now work at a Sports Licensed Division of the adidas Group in Indy. I'm a Production Artist (I need to emphasize on Production NOT Creative). I'm a very small, but important, part in a very long line for the Women's apparel for the NFL, NHL, NBA and NCAA. Benefits are great! But it's brutal sitting in front of a computer most of the time.

So, I'm back to school! This time, Bakery and Pastry Arts. I have thoughts to own my own small bakery, but I've never worked in the industry, I should probably start there first. ;) I should have this degree by the end of 2009.

I also want to be the person who has to ride the coasters and evaluate them. Know where I can sign up? ;) (partially not kidding)

Child care -- specifically family child care. In other words, I have a half a dozen kids in my house for ten hours a day... and no kids the rest of the time. LOL. Not the best paying job in the world, but it's fun and I love the kids.

Also seems to be a departure from the norm around here, mostly the science-tech sector.

Cool thread! :)

I actually work two jobs. During the day I'm a warehouse administrative assistant for a digital jukebox company.

The rest of the time I'm a freelance artist who works in the anime and manga style ( japanese cartoons...big eyes, small mouths, annoying electric rats ^_~ ). I do graphic novels, a webcomic, occasionally character design and cover illustrations for video games and table top games (i.e. board games or RPG's) and do original commission work for people. I also travel alot to conventions alot during the year to sell our wares, so it eats up alot of our vacation time and I don't get to as many parks as I'd like.

Next year I think we're slimming our schedule a bit so we can take a week long road trip and hit some of the parks we've always wanted to, i.e. Holiday World and Busch Gardens Europe =)

/back to lurk land

Watch out for flying maps!

I have to say that I give credit to those folks who can deal with an abundance of kids. That's a talent all it's own! I applaud you! Same goes for those stay-at-home mom's. Whoever says you don't have a job, is not understanding the full picture there! ;)

Guys, don't you EVERY give any credit to those who work with the public (like me!)?

I deal with customers at an airport for many hours a day. There are days when I want to put half of them throught a wall and let the other half be sucked in by a running jet engine. Either that or "Indiana Jones" them!

Strange but bizarrely compelling thread.

ACE Rep for UK & Ireland. In my spare time I'm a specialist in surgical dentistry and medico-legal adviser.
