Looks like we have a name for the new Dive Coaster. Can't vouch for the authenticity of this considering it's being hosted on another site and wasn't found by myself but it looks pretty legit.
Wikipedia said:
"The griffin was said to build a nest, like an eagle. Instead of eggs, it lays agates. The animal was supposed to watch over gold mines and hidden treasures, and to be the enemy of the horse. The incredibly rare offspring of griffin and horse would be called hippogriff."
Curious how it will fit in with their theme.
I didn't know the "on" spelling was accpetable. I always thought it was "in"

"The Griffin (Greek gryphos, Persian شیردال shirdal "lion-eagle") (also spelled gryphon and, less commonly, gryphen, griffon, griffen, or gryphin) is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle."
Probably the common French spelling which would fit with the theme of the area. Same reason we had "Drachen" instead of "Dragon" before.
Even still, anything but "griffin" looks wrong to me. Funny how you learn something one way and everything else feels wrong.

That DOES explain a lot!
Note to self: When using multiple screen names remember to check which one I'm using!
