BGE - Griffon

Like Gonch, my personal favorite spelling is "gryphon", but I'm quite used to the "griffon" variant as well. "Griffin" is actually the one that looks wrong to MY eyes.

I think it's a great name for a coaster. It's unique, fitting, and the potential for merchandising is great.

Does Parc Asterix call Tonnerre de Zeus "Le Tonnerre de Zeus"? No, they don't. Its like insisting on calling a coaster "The Raptor".

Probably the common French spelling which would fit with the theme of the area. Same reason we had "Drachen" instead of "Dragon" before.

Drachen is the German variant of Dragon, not the French translation.

...and it was in a German themed area of the park.

Um.

Woops, sorry, misread how it was typed. Thought you were saying about it being French, my bad.

My opinion, although being unique, the spelling of Griffon will be forever misspelled on boards and such as Griffin, mainly because it's more common of a spelling.

^Won't be the first time a coaster name is consistently misspelled on the internet.
Just because the are trademarking the name doesn't mean they are going to use it.

But if they do, it's a good name; it was bound to come up anyway at some point - the 'grab bag' of mythology names only goes so deep.

How am I Coasterdiscern matt?

who gives what the heck it is?!? Lets just try to do some research to figure out what kind of coaster/ride it is going to be. It's about time they get a new coaster. They only have 4. When I was on the site it said, "Vertical Flying." That will be a cool combination if that means what I think it does.

...then...

My bad! How reliable is the source it's coming in your opinion? Seems to me it's in the works.

Now, matt. was replying to Sirchubs, but immediately after that CoasterDiscern says "My bad." Why would he say "My bad" when when it was his very first post in the thread? Unless of course his first post was actually under his other screen name of Sirchubs.

Do you really think you're fooling anyone?

Sirchubs = CoasterDiscern?

I dunno, guys.

While I enjoy playing "Find Sybil" as much as anyone, these guys' IP's are pretty consistent - and in a way that would take a lot of work to pull off if it were one person.

The sequence of posts makes no sense to me either (kinda like the spelling, 'Griffon' ;) ) - but we're dealing with two people here.

Gryphon is by far the coolest of the acceptable spellings. I never knew there were so many variants.

Even still, anything but "griffin" looks wrong to me. Funny how you learn something one way and everything else feels wrong.

I thought the exact same thing, Gonch. Weird, eh?

Reading through again I think it's probably two different posters that are usually just so un-intelligable its probably better to think of them as the same person whether they are or not. ;)

Apparently. Maybe we're the same poster? ;)

Well, the "My bad" comment still seems awfully strange to me if they are not the same person, but hey, what do I know? If they are truly two different people then I apologize if I offended them.

Back on topic, I really like the name. Love them or hate them, you at least have to give Busch credit for using original names.

So the real question is... will Busch hire Kathy Griffin to make a celebrity appearance on opening day? ;)

If they do, hopefully she'll have better luck than Fabio did when Apollo's Chariot debuted.

dude, you guys are way off!!! cedar fair is going to purchase budweiser and will own busch gardens, this new ride is actually going to cedar point omgz lolz!!!
Kathy Griffin....no they need Peter Griffin for the opening. "This coaster is freakin sweet....."

I've always been about the idea that it's about quality, not quantity at BGE. They only have four coasters, but they are all great coasters. Not a complaint from me about a single one. I'll take a BGE/HW-type park anyday over a park that has 12...13...even 17 coasters, but half or more of them totally suck!

I think BGE will knock our socks off with this baby. Everything from the name, to theme, to the proposed coaster type look awesome.
