Flashback, Sky Tower, Freefall to reopen BY Springtime

I agree Redman, except I LOVED Flashback because of its intensity! That ride is seriously one of the craziest things I've ever been on.

The Tobaggan at Lakemont Park comes in a close second.

Man, that LOOKS really painful! I don't know if you an even operate it "without" OTSR's... those clearances look awefully tight!

/\ And those tight clearances are exactly the reason why Flashback's vehicles can't be converted to a lap-bar only setup. There's more than bad aesthetic design and coincedence that Flashback's cars are coffin-styled -- with high sides, redundant lap-bar/shoulder harness restraints that are rider movement restrictive.

The only time I've been on Flashback, my lapbar failed. I think that about says it all.

Thanks AlexinLA, closest I've come to actually getting ON the ride...the *jerking* was bad enough so that I feel like I should just count viewing the footage as my credit lap and move on...

And I do think that lapbar-only MIGHT be do-able elsewhere, but NO WAY in SoCal, that'd be a lawsuit on wheels... :(

edit: LOVE Matt's idea of LoCo-trains...that thing would be the undisputed RULER of Mooshing... I can dream, can't I? :)

Besides the clearance issue, I'm thinking a lap bar only restraint also wouldn't work because there are some severve lateral forces going on entering those hairpin drops. I'd imagine you'd just end up knocking your head into the higher than average side panel of those coffin cars instead of the current metal bar soft OTSRs. Why I just see this as a waste of resources, so not worth the cost, I'd rather they restore Revolution to it's former glory than worry about this POS.

^ But Revolution being repaired won't impress the Guinness people (even though it would impress *us* and lines would triple for the ride)...having EVERY coaster operating at once, that's the world record... ;)

IMO, fixing Flashback up to operate is a waste of resources. Yes, a couple of people like it. However, by and large, its considered not to be not just a bad ride- but a terrible ride.

As in, its painful enough that it will upset people more by having it operate (and bashing riders like crazy) than just leaving it all alone back in that corner.

If the park was mine to run, I'd demolish Flashback and give that land to a new addition for Hurricane Harbor.

It truly does deserve the terrible reputation that it has. :)

I've never been to the park. However, it seems part of the complaints about Six Flags is not all of the rides operate. In fact, sometimes, three, four or five rides are not operational. To me, one of the guest service initiatives is at least each ride will have the ability to operate everyday. If it breaks down during the day, so be it. One of the things I've always noticed about Six Flags is once a ride goes down, it doesn't seem to get fixed in a timely manner. Sometimes taking serveral days or months to fix because no spare parts exist on site. There might be a change in this philosophy.

Holy crap, Mantis doesn't even do that. I know it's always promised, but these new park changes may actually happen this time. If MM gets all this stuff going, they are going to be a much improved park.
