What other rides would you add to the top of the Stratosphere?

Like I"ve said before. The ride that they need to build up their would be one of those rides where your stuck against the wall. But this ride goes out and over the edge and drops the floor. That would be fun. So its you the wall and the ground 1000 feet below.

A skycoaster would also be an incredible idea.

Nice, DWeaver...:)

Of course, we already know that Strat says "we're done, there's nothing else going on up here the structure is full"....

But I will always remember the (Arrow) fishhook as "the one that got away". The ultimate combination of coaster lore (lure?) and fish story. "They were gonna build this insane contraption on the Strip coming off the tower....". NIMBYists won that one.... :(

edit: Starflyer looks *crazy*...gotta get to Prater, someday...

Meh, it's pure height. FREEFALL baby!

The fishhook thing DID look fun, though. Maybe someday? :-P

They even had a scale replica of the fishhook in the hotel lobby for quite a while...by the time I first got to Strat, it was gone.

Wonder who ever ended up with that, maybe our rides manager friend? ;)

I just, again, want to make it clear that this thread is purely for entertainment purposes with NO actual plans of any of these ideas actually being built..

I know there probably isn't going to be any more rides, but I'm just saying, you know, for fun..

remember... fun... guys..

Toward the end of this article on the planned coaster, it mentions a $50.000 replica of the ride having been on display at Stratosphere.
Does anyone have any pics of it?
I would so love to see that!

How about the S&S Sonic Boom Freefall down the side of the Stratosphere. Now that would be INSANE!!! And would so tick of the neighbors.

As long as it isn't as long as The Beast, That would be dissrespectful.

I think the Sattelites from knoebels would make an excellent ride up there! Put it right on the edge! That would be intense!

Speaking of jumping off the top, I remember reading a rumor about them removing The High Roller to make room for a SCAD freefall thing. Does anybody else remember that?

Hadn't heard that, & with the high winds that you get on the stratosphere... good luck hitting the net.

Anyway while we're dreaming... if I could get a second gen Intamin freefall going down the side of that tower...

Of course the strat is done building rides.. Interactive Rides doesn't have anything else really exciting to put up there... except for Turbulence that was supposed to go at Hershey ;)

(and something tells me that the little fireman isn't going to cut it, even that high in the air)

I agree with Flying scooters -- especially good if they can't fix the backup power systems, they return to station using the advanced technology of "gravity". ;)

The top of a tower isn't a good place for a Screaming Swing, Huss Giant Frisbee or anything that involves pendulum or swinging movement. Those attractions require very wide, heavy bases to tranfer the significant horizontal forces to the ground. A 900 foot tower isn't an ideal structure to transfer horizontal forces to the earth. The tower is designed to tranfer wind forces and probably some lateral earthquake movement, but not the strong and repetative side-to-side stresses from a pendulum-style ride. I am an engineer and I know this would be a complex design. Not impossible, but very difficult.

How about a Pirate Ship (Galleon at Adventureland) or a Falling Star type ride?

Wow, just thinking about that makes me giggle.

Oooo, this idea made my stomach turn just reading it. Could you imagine the power going out on this one?

But isn't there a free fall ride/rescue type device that straps you to a cord and you can just jump over the edge of a building/structure? Put this up there so we could just jump off the edge.

I know I had seen it demonstrated with a person jumping from a multistory building. But this was sometime after 9-11. I also remember seeing it marketed as a amusement device.........but I don't remember where.

Zipper. Skywheel. Cliff Hanger. Force-10.

Any one of those would probably work, especially if positioned so that they load on the tower and swing out off the edge of the tower during the ride cycle.
