Wabash Cannonball

I drove right by Beech Bend to go to SFKK on my way home from a Dollywood/Lake Winnie trip last year. Now I'm going to make a special trip. We'll it'll be an add on to a HW trip anyway.

My band "The Cedar Kings". "Ordinary Day" a trip report in song.

I just hope beech bend dosnt try to break the longest woodie record of the beast that would be very disrespectful!

*falls over laughing again* nice how every new woodie thread has that quote in it now. next time we see Beast Tamer we need to thank him for the new comedy routine. ;) Hoping Beech Bend's new coaster brings them many new guests including me since I will probably hit it while going on the Pilgramage... you know what I mean *nudge nudge wink wink*

Watch the tram car please....

Knowing the GCI guys Beech Bend's woodie is going to be seriously twisted. Can't wait to see the announcement and hopefully some schematics ;)

Twisted is fine but put some surprise elements and bunny hills in it like Thunderhead. The dive turn crap that gwazi and Wildcat do gets real old, real fast.

Chuck, who should be able to see some announcement news by now, Somewhere!

Chuck...the Ozarak Wildcat, right? The Hershey Wilcat with the PTCs is my favorite GCI. Nothing against the MILF trains. The layout just seems more aggressive than the others I have ridden. Of course I'm still missing the Dollywood credits. *** Edited 7/28/2005 7:05:15 PM UTC by Coaster Joe***

Nope, The Hershey Wildcat.

It did not thing for me except vibrate and the lapbar kept comming undone durring the ride.

I gave it a second chance even.

Chuck, who didn't hate it Just thought it was boring doing the same stunt over and over.

A totally different mental image came to mind when I saw the phrase "MILF Trains"...

Anyhoo, the press conference was supposed to be 1:30 pm today. That woulda been about an hour and a half ago (they're in Central time) but I can't find any info out there yet.

These folks need to take a page from Paula, Will, and John on how to announce a new coaster.

There it is. This is going to be a phenomenal one two punch between BB and HW.

I feel like I'm feeding sharks here. Anyway here is what is posted on Beech Bend's site. It's a PDF file

Beech Bend is doing the "name the coaster" thing hopefully it won't get a name like Wildcat (since GCI already has 2 of them) or worse yet Zoomerang!

OK, now we need renderings! I can certainly envision the Rye Aeroplane, so I can hardly wait to see the actual 3D layout.

I guess living in Indiana isn't so bad afterall. This will put B.B on the map. The midwest is going to ROCK in 2006.

For those of you envisioning the Rye coaster keep in mind the first drop was NOT the spiral drop most people think of. The first drop sequence was as follows:

Approx 20' drop off the chain into a tight left hand turn, followed by a straight drop that rose up into the infamous second spiral drop.

30 crossovers...that is indeed twisted! Thunderhead has -- user looks up at his handy-dandy S&D Greetings wood coaster which happens to feature Thunderhead in July -- 28 crossovers by my count!

Yes, renderings would be nice. Hey C-Punk...talk to yer friends at GCI and work your magic ;)

Why does it seem that every new wood coaster being built is just so awesome? Did they finally figure it out or are we just getting lucky?

Moosh, count the crossovers on Thunderhead again. you missed 3. probably on the brake run under the lift and that upper crossover that goes over the lift! right in that spot there is 3 layers of track not 2! :)
