Beech Bend to unveil '06 plans

While it definitely looks like it's going to be a great coaster and I can't help but note that I see very little of the Rye Aeroplane in this design. The signature of the Aeroplane was the whirlpool drop and that's definitely not there.

Someday.....

Jim - GCI never said the whirlpool drop was going to be included. What is inspired by Rye's classic is the first drop: small drop off the lift, tight turn, straight drop to the ground.

GCI first tried it with Ozark Wildcat and made the radius tighter for the BB woodie. But you're right...the rest of the ride doesn't resemble it at all. While I know the guys at GCI like to do original designs I sure would love to see someone recreate the Aero Coaster.

It looks like the Beech Bend coaster will not have the rise before the drop unlike the Ozark Wildcat.

The continual descent of the Aeroplane's first drop is quite evident in this photo:

Way to go Beech Bend! The station fly-bys will definately keep waiting riders preoccupied.

Thanks for all the pics from the press conference Paul. This looks sick and twisted. It appears the first drop after the turn is going to dive under a section of track.

Hmmm now to think up a name and win those season passes.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

Yes, Jeff Pike said that there will be no rise before the drop so that should be insane.

Have Fun
