It's not all about break in point either Moosh.

Some of it is learning how to best maintain it.

Like someone mad that they keep overpacking the bearings?

Chuck, who wonders if Cyclops and this will even be rideable in a backseat with a 6th car. More weight means faster acceleration (Don't believe Newton)

You might change your mind on the effect of long trains when you see Avalanche in motion. I used to think longer was faster too.

Avalanche was designed for the short trains.

^ Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when Avalanche was being constructed I read something about it opening with a short train, but another car could be added in the future if the park wished.

I am almost POSITIVE I saw that somewhere on this site.

Edit: Obviously it was designed with a short train in mind, but maybe just not THAT short. Maybe they checked the design with both the train sizes and decided that the really short one would be better? *** Edited 6/28/2005 7:35:14 PM UTC by RollrCoastrCrazy***

Not every hill needs to be ejector air but hey they should always provides at least a notable float. That hill does nothing even later BARELY works. I think it just needs to be slightly stronger. Maybe a 6th car would make this a perfect backseat ride. I'm sorry but I don't believe in breathers. Breathers are just for wimps!

The hill over Zeus was designed to be a pacing breather unless of course it works later in which case it was just being broken in. Either way, it is perfect the way it is and we are not worthy.

I talked to a TGG employee before the ride opens being concern about such a high hill so late in the ride asking about dead hills and he says they tried to design them out of the ride meaning that they tries to make everything works. There is already a pacing breather on the turnaround. Why have two dead spots? Is that a mistake? I still think breathers are stupid on a coaster designed to be a thriller. Save them for tame family coasters. My friend The Pinball Lord thinks the same way that completely dead hills which does absolutely nothing is a total waste.

Well, if the Pinball Lord thinks so, then who are we to argue?

I agree with you PFF. I think unless it gets better that they did not get what they wanted out of that hill.

I know if I had a park I'd want airtime on EVERY single hill to havee a #1 ride. I KNOW what makes a good coaster. The best possible woodie wood (pun intended) would have all these features:

-A 220'-250' 70*-80* first drop (Intamin plug & play) or 150'-180' 70* first drop (TGG or S&S woodie),

-Every hill deliver airtime ranging from floaters to ejector in at least the front and back seat. Ideally in every seat,

-Some (or most if possible) hills combining the airtime with laterals,

-At least 36 or more crossovers,

-A prelift sequend similar to Hades but in an underground tunnels,

-A MINIMUM of 7500' (Intamin plug & play) or 5500' of track (TGG or S&S),

-At least five tunnels including the pre-lift sequence and another tunnel at least 800' long hiding powerful airtime hills like on Avalanche,

-G forces ranging from -1 g to 3.8 gs, laterals up to 1.8 gs.

Oh man...I can just imagine the torture that poor Gravity Group employee went thru:

PFF: Do you work for Gravity Group?

GG Guy: Yes.

PFF: So will this coaster have airtime I love airtime and I hope Hades has airtime because there is nothing better than airtime and I hope the park doesn't install brakes to kill the airtime like Valleyfair did on High Roller have you ridden that it could have airtime but doesn't stupid ValleyUNFair and what about that big hill by the lift I hope that has airtime and isn't a dead hill because I don't think a thriller should have dead hills only hills that produce airtime because I love airtime and I hope you designed the coaster with lots of airtime because that's what I like lots of airtime and no brakes like on High Roller have you ridden High Roller it could have airtime but the park put too many brakes on it and now it has no airtime which I love I hope a park someday will build a 200 foot high 5,000 foot long Intamin plug-n-play that's filled with airtime do you think a park will build one soon do you think you would ever design one like that because I love airtime.

GG Guy: We designed the ride with as much airtime and as few dead spots as possible. I have to be going now....

And for the record, at least he finally said what I'd been thinking for the last three pages.

Quit whining. The people over at The Gravity Group have made a career out of designing roller coasters. Fantastic roller coasters. Let them.
