The Patriot at Worlds of Fun

Forgive me if I am just a really poor search but I don't post often and only lurk occasionally. Was wondering if anyone had any details other than what little I now know about the new B&M inverted going up next year behind Camp Snoopy. A ride op mentioned a little bit about it during the lightning delay today. Said it was longer than Mamba, "made by the same company as the Batman rides.", and called "The Patriot" *** Edited 6/4/2005 7:33:40 AM UTC by SnakeEyes***

I believe it's still just "unsubstantiated rumor", though all signs point to it being true. I'll bet Swoosh knows exactly what's going on! ;)

If it is true it should be a nice and deserved addition to WOF, which already was a decent park.

The Building Permits state that the new coaster ride will be going to be built in the Beat Street area. Also there been core samples done there, and there plenty of survey flags to go around in that area. The name Patriot was the name that was registered by CF for a new ride name in the Trademark Office. There's been a lot of discussion of this on the UNWOF website.

Man would this be great news. I go to school at the University of Kansas, about an hour from WoF. I wonder what the chances of this being true are?

Well all this was told to me by the park employee and I bought none of it up, the other person just shared it as we were discussing other coasters and I mentioned Batman. Everything I mentioned in my first post was this person's information, including that it's an invert.

I think it's pretty much a done deal...barring any freaky things happening. I doubt it will be longer than Mamba. For an invert, that would be really, really long (not that I am against that mind you).

I'm glad to see it happen.

If it does end up getting built, I hope that it will feature some intense forces. Both Silver Bullet and Hydra have generally been described as "forceless," and after riding Batman at SFOG and Top Gun at Carowinds it is sad to me that rides of that caliber aren't being made anymore.

I have heard that Sheikra has some pretty good forces on it, but for some reason it seems as if B&M is reducing the forces since the uber-intense pretzel loops were introduced on the flyers.

I would jump the gun on the name just yet, since CF does have other parks that the name could fit into as well. A new coaster does sound right for WoF though.

With all of the souvenirs and other things cedar fair has trademarked its clear the patriot will be the name for a major ride. I really don't see where else it would end up at.

I would love to see it end up at michigans adventure. That park is in need of some new rides.

My vote goes for a B&M floorless.

I think a floorless would be AWESOME at WoF. I'd actually rather have a floorless than an invert, but that's because I've been on many Beamer inverts (while they are awesome) but never a floorless...and while at college I'm less than an hour from WoF. *** Edited 6/6/2005 5:44:17 AM UTC by Raging_Bull***

Somewhat off topic, but how will Cedar Fair's copyright of "The Patriot" affect Castles 'n' Coasters kiddy coaster's name? Do they care about stuff like that, because I know Silverwood had to rename Grizzly to Timber Terror after Paramount got up on them about it...

I can see Worlds of Fun having a huge boost in attendance from this. Realiable, People eating B&M's are always a good sign. I hope it is inverted, but it doesn't really matter.

I think the worker that said it will be longer than Mamba had it confused with the cross country skiing themed coaster being built in Alaska.

As long as WoF can motivate itself to operate multiple trains on this thing. They have had problems with that in the past. I was there a little while ago and it was pretty busy and they were still lazy enough to run only on train on the Mamba...

Lets wait for the announcement before we speculate on the what and the how of the ride. As for Beat Street, I think it would be easiest to link you to an overhead shot of the park locate the Grand Prix Raceway on the left (west) side of the park and the area due north of that ride is Beat Street.

Thanks for the 'orientation'. As many times as I have been there, I couldn't for the life of me think where Beat Street is.

Moosh, a floorless is a nice addition - but typically if your park already HAS a *feet dangly ride*....honestly, an invert, even an inverted boomerang (which I love), ranks higher on the food chain, IMO.

IF it were a stand-up, I'd like to see a Scorcher clone....for a floorless, a copy of B:KF.

Clones may not be the enthusiasts' favorites, but they ARE good business...for better AND for worse...;)
