I was at CP last weekend, when someone behind me started telling everyone they're building a new coaster at Six Flags GAdv in 2005 that will be 450 feet tall....
is this true????

There is a new Intamin rocket being built at SFGAdv for the 2005 season. There are a whole lot of theories as to what this coaster will be, and one particular school of thought leans toward this being a world-record-breaking coaster in terms of height and speed. Unfortunately for the guy behind you, he's only sharing hearsay as of right now...but never fear! An official announcement can be expected before the end of September, and all will be revealed. :)

The official details have yet to be released but i doubt it will be taller, as it has a shorter track length.

Mike--
There is also a lot of talk going around that the "track length" given at the Jackson board meeting was not correct. Anything is still a possibility at this point.

Impulse, an excellent point. I personally hope Six Flags is going to use the new Intamin track, which they developed in association with K'nex. All of it just snaps into place, so if they have Dragster related problems, they can just rearrange the pieces and have just ANOTHER moderately-heighted coaster that won't run due to mechanical problems and understaffing. ;)

I can just about assure you that TTD record for speed will be broken before its record for height.( If not at the same time) It's just so expensive for a 400 foot tall hill.

I believe I read somewhere that CP used 2 450 foot tall cranes which where only 2 of 4 available for the hill.
