The cost of the station far exceeds the cost of a floor on the trains.

Remember that the station has the floor that would've been on the coaster, plus all the actuators and sensors that make it work.

And safety devices to keep it from opening when people are loading...(I hope!)

jf....on the Wonka version of the floorless, the floor opens when "bad eggs" try to get on the train....the go directly to the plant's incinerator...;). It's an additional expense on that particular model, but Mr. Wonka specifically requested it that way...

I've been on all the North American floorless coasters and X-Flight and Superman: Ultimate Flight in NJ. Personally, I prefer the floorless. One ride on a flyer is enough for me, they just arent that fun. Even the worst floorless is better than the best flyer.

actually someone did get hurt when the floor opened prematurely. I think it was on B:DK, and a 17 year old was a ride op, and the other op went to dispatch the ride, and he fell 17 feet.

I don't remember the site, it was an AOL.com hosted website, and it could have been ************.com where I found the info.

I think it was on SFWOA's BKF,not SFNE's B:TDK.

The incident happened in 01 if I'm not mistaken, now that's a whole season before B:TDK was even up & running @ SFNE,also it was an attendant that fell through the floor & not the lead op.

have any of you been on AIR in alton towers? it may not be the most thrilling ride but it sure gives the feeling of natural flight. I havent actualy been on a floorless IMO they look abit predictable and I dont think it looks that special
