I looked at the GCI website and they updated it, it looks like a great site , and not so static it has no flash, and its shows photos of all there coasters and 3d renderings of thte thunderhead layout. This ride looks incredible, even though the renderings don't show the real bankings of the ride. I can't wait to ride this when it opens next spring.

Have a great day,

Wood Fan

ThunderHead looks really cool, I hope I get to ride it next year....still trying to round out my collection of GCII's, so eventually I'll have to get back to NorCal...

bill, wondering how 66.3 ft/sec and 44.16 ft/sec BOTH work out to 45.2 mph....must be the new math...;)

Ride looks amazing. A terrain twister is what I'd classify it as.

It's probably just the imaging, but it looks like 0 banking! ouch!

I can't be the only one who thinks "Thunderhead" sounds like the name of a porno.

Well, it IS Dollywood after all....not to mention that it's built on two hills. ;)

I said a long time ago Jeff that the name was ripe fodder for the CPG.

Anyway the layout appears to be more Lightning Raceresque then any other GCI. meaning it is more spread out then the likes of Roar and Wildcat.

GCI said in a past interview their rendering software has a hard time rendering banks for some reason.

Maybe I'm not looking at the renderings correctly, but it looks more like a wooden mine-train than anything else. Very little in the way of hills or even fan-turns. Not that that's bad.

That ride looks awesome.

MAnderson, HEFC (owner of SDC and DW) always has corny art concepts.

And about no banking, the GCI's image of Ozark Wildcat showed it with out banking also.

Trust me these images ar eno way gonna give justice to the real thing when I gets done. That is what I expericed with the Ozark Wildcat. The program they used doesn't display the banking very well so there's gonna be lots of 90* twists and turns.

As for the flyover element I guess they got that idea from the Windstorm coaster at Celebration City. I love how when I'm getting on the Thunderbolt at CC, the other train flys over my head at 35 MPH. I want to go to Dollywood next spring so badly.

Wow! That looks like an amazing layout! I think that just about solidifies a visit to Dollywood for me next summer.

I think the Ride looks Great. Not quite as many Hills as I thought it would have, but looks like the ride itself will be insane.

There really making it a point that this ride is not a clone of Ozark Wildcat. Very nice indeed. 53 is pretty fast as far as woodies go. (Before they start to get painful)
