Layouts previews of Thunderhead on GCI Website.

I believe in many ways this coaster will be a wooden "Runaway Mine Train". Just read the description that Dollywood has put out. That with GCI building it, should make it one great ride.

That is kind of what it reminded me of as well. A Whole Bunch of Circles with one Big Drop sounds pretty Arrow Mine Train-ish to me, but we have got a Double-Up, a Banked First Drop, and a Fly Through Station,(whether that will improve the ride or not is your guess) so I think it will at least be fun evan if it is not amazing.

Well Folks,

Dollywood has made another survey, this time asking how much you like Smoky Mtn. Adv. over Thunder Road and asking which ride could be taken out of the park without a negative impact.(they list Flooded Mine several times-Don't they know they took that out in 98 to build Daredevil Falls?)

Don't diss DW! Mark my words, for you will regret it in a few years! (Thinking of B&M and a few other coasters)

Thunderhead comes to Dollywood in 2004!

I'm a little mad that they would evan consider Blazing Fury or the Steam Train for removal. But, they seem to have caught the bad vibes going around involving SMWA.

I'm curious as to why they mentioned the Flooded Mine. Like you said, It's been gone for years now.

I don't want them to take out Blazing Fury either.

But it should have been upgraded years ago (new trains, etc) and maybe it will happen over the winter. Who knows?

I'd like to see them redo the entire layout of BF, with new audio-animatronics and scenes, maybe a loop or two :) .

I wonder if they kept the Flooded Mine (just boarded it up). They could have built Daredevil Falls and kept the ol' Mine (Why didn't they?)

No, it's not that special. It's just the longest, tallest, and fastest woodie GCI has ever made.

Tight turns hurt? You've obviousely never ridden a GCI before (the new ones that is).

Good Evening.

Well, it doesn't have to be special. I'm happy just as long as it is fun, I'm not asking for a wooden coaster on the level of the Beast or Lightning Racer.

I Agree with CoastermanX on his BF Opinions. Alott of Animatronics are missing, (Most recently the two Firemen got removed from the Main Street Part of the Ride) and the ride really needs new Audio tracks. I think it would be cool if they re-designed the ride to have REAL Fire, like Escape from Pompeii @ BGW. And possibly add Trees that would fall down as the train passes by them, along with an In-Ride Soundtrack.

But, of course I would be happy if they just dusted things off in there every now and then!

And why does that matter?

I think the ride looks fairly good... nothing I would go way-out-of-the-way for. If I'm up in that area for some reason, I'd drop by, but I don't think I would be planning any special trips there (especially after having gone to SDC which just so happened to be a we'reclosesowhynot trip and also was a 4-hour park which seems to be the case with Dollywood, too).

I lied, and I don't quite get what's so great about a station fly-trough.

It normally takes me Two Days to do everything at Dollywood, but of course shows take up 1/3 of that.

Shy One likes the concrete heavens that show no attention to themeing. Give em a brake.

PS, you obviously went to SDC on a bad day. Take in the atmosphere for once.

ROYALS!!!

Ha, you're really funny...

PS, I obviously didn't. Where did I ever say I had a bad time? Where did I say anything about atmosphere? I thought the park was pretty good, just lacking in the rides department (main... err, only reason I was there). And, I took in all the atmosphere I wanted (not that it was bad) in those 4, short hours. I was also visiting some relatives up in the area during that time who I see about every other year so I wasn't going to stay at the park all day long. To top that all out, I was at the peek of a cold.

I lied, and I also hate shows.

Amen to that! Those are both overrated coasters...I'd hope Dollywood's new woodie will be *much* better than those two ;)

I was just kiddin too by the way. Just do you dont think of me as some immature jackass ;)
But I will agree, they definatly lack in rides. I will not disagree with you on that.
Sorry, maybe after they add their woodie and the launched water coaster, you'll have a better time.

Define overrated. The Beast, I'd have to agree with you (there's such a thing as too big), but LR is a fantastic ride. Of course, it's all opinion anyway, but I don't hear people hyping LR beyond its capabilities.

Looks great, especially with the station fly-by. Being the air-whore than I am, however, I'm still waiting for GCI to build an out and back and slap some millennium flyers on it.
