Where ever i find info on Goudurix (parc Asterix) it's stated it's one of the roughest Vekomas outthere. I rode it 7 times in different places and i found it to be one of the smoothest! Considering it's 13 years old...

Very fun to go through the butterfly-element... http://www.rcdb.com/full/parc-asterix/goudurix6.jpg Does anyone know if there are more coasters with this element? When i look long enough i can actually see it's somesort of sea serpent inversion... Wouldn't this make Vekoma the inventor of it instead of B&M (Medusa)

I'll also have to agree with Boomerangs...if it weren't for the Internet I wouldn't even think that many people would dislike them. I also think SFOG's Ninja has a great layout, is not too rough, but the trains (Vekoma trains w/ Arrow wheels, I think) just make it an awful coaster with awesome potential.

Nitro, Gemini, Laser, Ice, Thunder...The American Gladiators!

Arrow Loopers and Vekoma Boomerangs are some unpopular coasters I like. Also a specific unpopular coaster I like is Yankee Cannonball at Canobie Lake Park. Floater Airtime on every hill and it doesn't matter where you sit on the train! It's so underated that hardly anyone knows about it never mind ridden it.

Hmm well as far as unpopular coasters go I'd have to say Kennywood's Jackrabbit... what a double dip!

But, for infamous coasters, I'd have to say the coaster always referred to as being too rough, Son of Beast. Having enjoyed three smooth rides (front, back, and middle, so I don't think seat number has anything to do with it) I can honestly say I loved the ride!

Serial Thriller. I have hated every other SLC I have ever seen, and thought that this one was a waste, too. When I rode it, it was amazing. As good, if not better, than a low end B&M.

Another underrated coaster has to be Hercules. It may be rough, but not that much, and its view of lake dorney is amazing.

Finally, I think Lightning Racer deserves more recognition. It may be quite smooth, but it was exhilirating and is in my top 10. The Comet there, which is also unnoticed, is in my top 5.

105 coasters, and the Cyclone still tops 'em all.

Big Dipper at MIA is the best kiddie coaster ive ever rode, most people just pass it up but i decided to ride it just for the fun of it and it turned out to be a fun little intense coaster, i had to ride it again!

i really like mantis. alot of people dont cause they say its rough, but i think it has a cool ending figure 8, and awesome first loop, hell the whole ride is awesome. i guess we need to stop complaining unless the coaster makes us start bleeding, then we can complain about roughness. but a headache, please.......

I absolutely love Son Of Beast at PKI!

The Beast is my favorite wooden coaster & SOB compliments it beautifully. Many here at Coasterbuzz have complained about its roughness, so I was a bit nervous prior to my first ride on this masterpiece a few weeks ago.

The 214 ft drop is astounding. The helixes are intense and scary. And the LOOP! The loop is perhaps one of the best inversions on any coaster I've experienced. The sensation of traveling from a wooden ride onto what is traditionally a steel element is mind-boggling.

Sure, it's not the airtime machine that most enthusiasts crave - it's an exciting ride built for speed and intensity - not air. Papa Beast gives me plenty of air, tunnels & terrain to keep me happy. I'm glad that SOB isn't the exact same experience, only super sized to make it's daddy obsolete.

As for those who complain of roughness, I found it to be far less painful than The Boss & Screaming Eagle at SFSTL (both of which are good coasters that managed to give me a nasty headache) and several other older, smaller woodies (Big Dipper at SFWOA and Thunderbolt at Kennywood immediately come to mind). I selected cars near the front and middle of the train for fear that the intensity in the back would be too great, so maybe that's the secret to enjoying this coaster.

Anyhow, for whatever it's worth, I got it. Maybe it's running better now than when it first opened, or maybe its just more to my taste, but I think that Son Of Beast is an essential coaster for every enthusiast to experience.

Mamoosh - I know what you mean. We really couldn't believe the thing was so rugged. Who'd think just by looking at it? We took two consecutive backseat rides, and decided that was enough. We ended up riding "in the middle towards the back" for the rest of our time at Lakemont, and loved every second of it.

I really like Great American Scream Machine (arrow mega looper) it was very tall and very intense. Everyone says its rought but to me I had a little head banging which didn't even hurt or I didn't notice. It is a fun ride, the only thing I see thats wrong is the brakes were on too hard before the boomerang but it still had a nice pace I liked it. Skull Mountain was a fun ride. Everybody thinks this ride is going to thrill you its only a family coaster in the dark and it has a really good first drop. It makes me laugh when im on it because its fun its not supposed to be intense.

Anaconda! That coaster is great and only has 1-2 short lived rough spots. Toss in a cool tunnel, smooth back to back loops, a great setting, and hanging corks (my favorite park) and this ride is a classic.

I have enjoyed every coaster I have been on, save Viper at SFGadv, much worse than Shockwave, Mind Eraser, Steel Phantom, or anything else I have ridden. It is so painful I walked on once and limped off never to ride again, despite the moderate air down the first drop and cool inline twist.

All vekomas, especially SLCs. They get bashed for being rough, but it's nowhere near as bad as my local Arrow Corkscrew.

Mean Streak @ CP. Said to be slow and boring, but it was just the opposite for me. It's a very fun ride.

Boomerangs.....then again I've only ridden Hersheypark's Sidewinder. If the others are like this then I don't know what everyone's problem is. I like the original much more than Deja Vu.

Mamba @ Worlds of Fun!!!!!!!

Nobody ever talks about it, but its an awesome ride yet everyone seems to overlook it. Oh, well. They are all just missing out on an awesome ride experience. At least I can ride my little Magnum Killer as much as I want! Season passes rule :)

Serial Thriller at SFWoA. (only SLC I have ridden, I probably would like them all.)

The old Steel Phantom at Kennywood.

Skyliner at Lakemont.

Many would say Mantis at CP, it kind of has a bad rep.

Space Mountain at WDW. Many people call it a tame, wild mouse in the dark. It's my favorite coaster.

Mean Streak at CP, Drachen Fire at BGW, Shockwave at SFGAm, Flashback at SFMM, Boss at SFStl, Texas Giant at SFoT, Iron Wolf at SFGAm, King Kobra at PKI, and both Hurler coasters. Oh yeah, Blue Streak at CP as well, there's a lot more, just aren't on my mind right now.
