Unpopular coasters that you did "get"?

X-Flight. A lot of people say they don't like it, but I have always loved it. I am up for Mean Streak too. I just like the speed, even if it isn't filled with air. Besides, the line is never that long, so what are you waiting for?

Sooperdooperlooper at Hershey Park. For its age, it is in great condition and runs VERY smoothly.
Well, this year I have really enjoyed Twister II. I really bagged on it before, but for some reason I like it this year. Who knows.
I'd have to say Vortex at PGA. Everyone says its to rough but its my second favorite ride in the park behind Top Gun. Just ride in the front and you should have a good ride.

I'd rather being riding coasters... or playing Halo:)

T^2 as SFKK everyone says its rough It was great.
Thunder Run was also a good wood coaster,

Part of a Flight Attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of us."

Here are a few of mine -

- Windjammer Surf Racers
- Manhattan Express
- ShockWave (PKD)
- Flashback
- Iron Dragon
- Wildcat

Goldrusher, at Six Flags Magic Mountain was a fun little coaster that I really enjoyed, though it didn't seem to be that popular among the park patrons.

Lets see.. To start, I liked Psyclone. I didn't find it any more rough than any other woodie I have been on, and the layout is pretty good.

I like Iron Dragon, and I can almost say that I liked it better than SFMM's Ninja. Wildcat at CP is a lot of fun, though I don't think most people label it as a bad ride, just an average one.

I "get" Desperado. It's probably my favorite hypercoaster, period. Yes I said it.

It's a wild, rough, out of control mess of a ride, and the most fun you'll have on a steel coaster. It's one of those rides where you grab on to your loved one, laugh uncontrolably and actually feel like your in a bit of danger. It's the steel equivalent to Texas Giant, and it doesn't give a crap whether you think it's too much or not, it's just doing it's thang!

God bless you Arrow! ;)

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

I totally agree with your opinion on Desperado. That's the only ride I've been on where they really try to restrict you from putting your hands up (besides any launched coasters.) I put them up anyway, and boy am I glad to still have my arms. You can't be more than 2 feet from hitting the top of that tunnel, or well, atleast it feels like it. There's crossbars hanging over the helix in the second tunnel too that just seem dangerously close.

Everyone ripped on this ride, but I found it to be just as good as Magnum. The layout was really awkward, but I'm glad it was because, sitting in the front, gave some insane ejector air.

One of my regrets on my SoCal, Vegas trip was not riding Desperado multiple times.

Other rides I "got" include Big Bad Wolf, Lochness Monster, Hercules, Canyon Blaster, JackRabbit @ Kennywood, Disaster Transport, Montezumas Revenge, and Mean Streak.

Desperado though, was the most suprising out of that bunch.

Getting into this thread a little late, so pardon me for not reading all the previous posts.

When I saw this topic the first coaster that came to mind was Skyliner at Lakemont. While not necessarily held in contempt my the enthusiast community I've never seen it ranked highly.

I first rode Skyliner on my post-SRM trip this past June with friends Jim 'jimvid' McDonnell and Dave 'flare' Fraser [another Skyliner newbie]. Jim, who has ridden Skyliner the year before, told us to ride in the back seat...a rather evil plan.

For those who don't know, Skyliner has three moments of 'slam you into the lapbar - slam you back down into the seat' airtime. Its deliciously violent and painful and on my first ride I really hated it. When we got back to the station the ride op asked if anyone wanted to ride again. Before I knew it the train was released and I found myself having to suffer thru another backseat ride.

After the second ride, Flare challenged everyone to a solo backseat ride with hands up from lift to brakes. We all took him up on the challenge [Flare went first] and I ended up really liking - possibly in some sado-masochistic way - the back seat of Skyliner. I ended up with the most backseat rides that day and have since come to highly regard - and resepct - Lakemont's Skyliner and it currently resides in my Top 20.

Ultra Twister @ SFAW, I love the ride, people make Togo's out to be alot worse than what they really are.

Another coaster being Batman: The Escape, I don't know what people are talking about the whole the ride is so rough junk, because I didn't hit my head on the OTSR at all, while riding.

I am also a big fan of SLC's, sure a little rough, but alot of fun.

Mamoosh - You are a bad, bad man. While I enjoy the Skyliner, I value my vertebrae too much to pull off such a feat. :)

I agree 100% with kRaXLeRidAh, Manhatten Express is simply amazing, ever drop caught my breath, the loop and gyro roll were insane and the airtime throughout the second part of the ride put many otsr steel coasters to shame. Yeah it was steep in price but take Suncountry airlines to Vegas and they give you a buy one get one free ticket for the ride in their coupon book (if they still hand them out) so it's more reasonable and it's awesome at night over the very convincing New York skyline.

I'm gonna have to go with Mean Streak, this was just an enjoyable ride for me. Possibly because 1) I only rode it once and 2) I don't have a lot of other wood to compare it with. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it.

I really loved the Hurler in the front row at PKD. My vote for best woody in the park. I also really love Flashback at SFMM, but that's one of those rides you have to be tall to enjoy. Otherwise, it's brutal.
Jackrabbit and Racers at KW, Thunder Run and Twisteds at KK, Big Bad Wolf at BGW and Hurler and Thunder Road at CW. I'd call them under rated more than unpopular. People don't necesarily dislike them. They just don't pay any attention to them.
I'd have to say Screechin' Eagle at LeSourdsville. WOW! Airtime HEAVEN! I'm so glad they have this coaster, it was 100% more than what I expected it to be!

chris - I think at first it became an issue of pride. I couldn't let the three of us walk away tied for the most solo hands-up back seat rides so I just kept riding. In a way it began to remind me of another aggressive muthaf'er I really love: Coney's Cyclone.

I hate rough, but there's nothing sweater than a coaster that takes names and then insults your mom and her shoes...LOL!

Hmmm... lets see. For steel it would have to be Great Bear at Hershey. That's one underrated coaster in my book. Very intense.

Wooden...that would be Thunder Run at SFKK. Amazing air time on that little thing. Best ride in the park IMO.
