Hands up or down?

I am really sorry if someone has already asked this so please forgive me.

Do you think it makes a difference to put your hands up or is it the same as having your hands down? I know I think it is a bigger thrill with your hands up, but I wanted to know what other coaster riders think.

Well when I was at CP I rode MF 4 times. 3 with my hands up and one time with my hands down. I think BY FAR the best ride was front car hands up at night.

Hands up, if at all possible, but I usually "test-drive" a ride first with the hands down. Then again, I have ridden Ghostrider at KBF many times, but I rode it at night for the first time last Friday, and I couldn't put them up. I was too frightened....:)

I think hands up because you get more airtime. Try it on any coaster with lots of airtime. It gives a lot more.

Hands up all the way. Notice how all the people who are scared to go on the coaster but do anyway have their hands gripped tightly to whatever type of restraint there is. They are scared. You are more out of controll with your hands up.

Never hold on. Hand up to feel more out of control.

I don't hold on but I tend to find the ride more relaxing and fun with my hands just relaxed instead of being pressured to hold them up the entire ride.

I like holding them up. Both times on MF I had them up. But I like to ride the coaster once hands down after a few rides with my hands up.

It all depends on the ride for me.

MF- hands up the whole way just because it is such a smooth ride.

Big Dipper- hands holding me down on the first two drops just so my back doesn't get shattered

To answer your question, it is all mental. When I was holding on for dear life on the Big Dipper I got just as much air as with my hands up.

Hands up over Xcelerator's Top Hat gives a lot more airtime. You'll truly feel like the ride wants to eject you onto La Palma Ave.

I only hold on for the small compact coasters like Wildcat @ CP and Galaxi at IB, etc... I was going to hold on for my first spin on MF, but once I reached the top of the lift, my hands just went up.

I hold my hands up on most coasters but when I look around and see i'm the only one like on SOB or MS then I might put them down.

Hands up definitely. It makes me feel less restrained, more on the edge.

Call me weird or something, but I found it easier and a bit more fun to hold my arms out more to the side, like if i had wings kinda way. I did this on Magnum only though, because the majority of my rides on it were single-rider rides.

hands up...especially on millenium force...but being that I'm taller I'm usually too scared to put my hands up on rides with good head chopper effects.
