Blue vs. Red - The Never-Ending Arguement

I was thinking about the Gemini last night an I was wondering "Why Blue and Red?" I've heard it represents The Ohio State Buckeyes vs. The Michigan Wolverines but I still don't know. If that were so, then I would be for blue, though I'm an Ohioan myself. It's ok, I'm used to being critisized. lol

I live in Michigan and all I have to say is...GO BUCKEYES!!! I want to go to Ohio State University.

I don't exactly know why but it would seem like they would want to use opposite colors (black and white, and in this case red and blue).

I doubt that CP thought of the largest rivalry in history when they took the plans to Arrow.....:) I'm surprised IB didn't give Hurricane's trains a Notre Dame and Purdue look!

Largest rivalry in history?!? I thought to be a true *rivalry* both teams have to win some. It seems to me that year in and year out Michigan simply stomps the heart out of the Trees.

And before you say anything, last year was a fluke and eveyone knows it. But we Illini are very grateful for that fluke (even though *we* got stomped in the Sugar).

Anyway, red and blue seem to be the colors of choice for MANY racing coasters (pretty much all of them besides Lightning Racer). I think it was a "patriotic" thing myself.

A buckeye is an annoying little nut-like think that grows on buckeye trees, and falls on you at any given time. And I mean ANY time.

And the best rivalry ever? I believe that would be the Bears and the Packers. But if you're just talking NCAA, then I'd go with Purdue and Notre Dame. When Purdue lost the NCAA women's basketball championship to ND, there were riots on Purdue's campus for the next two days. That over a women's basketball game!

Well, here's a third perspective: As a graduate of Ohio State, I couldn't care less. And frankly, I get tired of every single resident of this stupid city making such a big deal about it. It's a game, people. Something to do, not a lifestyle.

MRider, if that was a sincere question, here's the answer: It's a seed from the buckeye tree which, I believe, is native to Ohio. It's hard and spiky, but when you break it open, there's a shiny red seed that looks like polished wood. And there's a spot on it, so it kinda looks like an eye.

Yeah... the eye of a buck (male deer).

It's also refered to as a "horse chestnut" in some areas.

j/k?? It's true! I'd rather stomp the Birdies than the Browns ... its just not as much fun when they never put up a fight ;) But back on original subject, I agree with a patriotic theme

Even though the Ravens are the old Browns, I believe a rivalry is made by the fans and not the teams. I gained a lot of respect for the Raven fans last season, since I found them to be "true" football fans. Cleveland fans are a differant story... ;)

Although nothing beats the look on Ray Lewis's face, when the Ravens are loosing. :)

Actually red and green are opposites, not red and blue.

It was I who got you thinking about Gemini, huh? :)

It should be:

Browns vs. Steelers vs. Ravens

as the biggest pro rival.

I never thought of the bucks vs. the wolverines. Everytime we go to CP we call it busch light vs. bud light. :)
