Over-Rated Coasters

In your opinion what are the most over-rated coasters.

Magnum XL-200. Good ride, but wasn't as good as expected. Probably, I suppose, because people make it out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think that the Steel Phantom was overrated, sorry but the horsecollar was too hard, I don't care about head banging, just how hard the horsecolar is.

Magnum good but not that good. Raptor, always hear how it is the best inverted, I liked it the same as Batman

On the Raptor thing, I first rode it in 1995, three years after my first batman ride. I thought it was good, but i dont remember anything that special about it. I rode it again this year and I still didnt think it was that special. GOOD definitely, just not great. It is my least favorite of the 5 B&M inverts I have been on.

BUT the coaster I found to to least deserving of the praise it got was the Incredible Hulk Coaster. I didnt think the the launch was better than Jokers Jinx, and the rest of the ride didnt really make me feel anything, even riding in the last seat. I want to ride it again cause it couldn't really be as boring as I remember. But from that one ride, I'll take an Arrow looper anyday.

Batman The Ride! Dah! Buzzers make this coaster out to be the sweetest thingy on wheels ever. "Short but sweet" they all say. Short yes, sweet NO! The drop is very little and has not a single feeling of flight. The loop and In-line twist were OK. After that, it goes WAY down hill. Huge fan turns combined with slow speed equal boringness.

In the wood catergory, I will have to go with Beast. Up until the last helix, I can't seem to have fun on the ride. There are too many straightaways and slow turns that are low to the ground. Zero airtime, zero laterals. That last helix is a different story, however.

The Beast was built for one thing and one thing only. SPEED and power!!! It wasn't built for laterals, or airtime. Thats why they have the racer. I feel that Magnum was a great ride when it opened. But my most recent visit this past summer told me that it has lost something. Maybe it was just overshadowed by the great FORCE!

For wood I'd have to say GhostRider at KBF is one of the most overrated coasters. It's my #3 and I LOVE it, but I can't see how so many people have it as their #1. Maybe I just rode it too early.

For steel, well, I dunno. I'd have to say Georgia Scorcher. Tons of people say this is their #1 stand-up. It's my 2nd to last fav. :)

But whatever, everyone has their own opinions about coasters. And it's tough for me to find a coaster I don't like. ;)

Definitely Millennium Force. It's a one-trick pony. A nice drop, then a boring, unforceful ride. I'd take Magnum over it any day...

That's your opinion, and if you think it's overrated, I honor that. However, "unforceful"? Negative G's is a force... didn't you feel any airtime on that thing? (And the bottom of the first drop has some of the best positive G's I've ever experienced.)

Short but sweet may not be for B:TR but it sure does apply to Nemesis at Alton Towers, in Staffordshire England. It has one of the shortest drop, but it packs one of the greatest punches ever. If you dont know, due to hieght restrictions, Alton Towers cannot build above tree level, so they built Nemesis (and oblivion) into the ground. The feeling of flight can be enhanced not only from hieght and speed, but low the ground elements and fast pacing. See, nemesis is more like flying underneath a bird or a bat. Larger inverts are like flying underneath a jet fighter (especially montu - my #1 invert).

#1 Raptor,it's way to over paced for me.
#2 Millennium Force,great drop but just seems like a breeze ride after the first hill.
I'll take Magnum over MF on anygiven day.

Heh, good to see you posting rOLLocOASt! ;) I agree with the Montu assesment, definitely still my #1 inverted even after all the "horrible" brakes. Front row on that coaster is one of the best experiences in all of coasterdom.

The Raptor, this ride is so boring. It is good, but there has to be a way to get rid of those pesky straightaways.

The Beast, while good, it didn't live up to the hype it had for me. First drop and the first turn are the only real good parts of this coaster. The helix is amazing though.

I think Dueling Dragons is pretty overrated. I thought it was good, but not as good as everyone says it is.
