Was SFGAdv being un-Six Flags-like?

You know what was wierd to me? I can't figure out why SFGAdv didn't pick a Superman name for Nitro. It just doesn't make any sense. SF not naming a hyper after a superhero is very un-Six Flags-like. I know about Raging Bull but with all the rides with Superman names that opened recently I was wondering why they didn't make it easier on themselves by naming it S:RoS. I'm not saying I'd rather have it be a S:RoS, it is just very peculiar very this certain chain...

Knock on wood. The very next attraction could very well be themed to Superman. ;)

I like that it is more of an original name rather than another DC comic superhero

Maybe B&M said "NO"!! You named enough of our rides in the past after DC Comics. You sure as heck arent going to slap superhero names on our 200ft plus coasters" :)

The end result is Raging Bull and Nitro. End of story.

LOL, Chitown. Nitro is a fantastic coaster, my fav Beemer, and that's ONLY because of the cool (read: ingenious) name...;) I imagine the employee that named the ride had to be terminated for "creativity above and beyond the call of duty".

As for RB, I always assumed they "borrowed" the name from the movie about Jake LaMotta, with that actor, "Bobby" DeNiro.

B&R TC: I thought that SFGAD would have used Raging Bull to promote Nitro. unless they changed the colors of the coaster, RB is Orange and Purple. I know that they used a pic of RB on the site when Nitro first opened and even there they didn't bother changing the colors.

How come some people complain about six flags being un-origional and they have the same names at every park, now a six flags park did something rare and original by naming a hyper a name besides Superman but now people are complaining about Great adventures being un-six flags like. Your sayin if they named in S:ros it would be better but I bet if they named it that you will go say why they named it after S:ros at New England. I am not tryin to get down on you but I don't get it what you want from a park. Don't we have enough S:ros in that area anyway besides we are saving a superman name for a B&M flyer that may be coming in a year or 2.

They STILL have pics of RB, and it's in the commercials for this year. Anyway, they were being un-Six Flags-like, I think they actually thought people would get the nearby S:ROS's confused...Theres one at SFA and one at SFNE and SFgadv is in the middle of them both.

If you think about it, the S:ROS coasters are Intamin 2-abreast. The nitro and raging bull are B & M 4-abreast. See anything developing here?

No. All the Batmen are 4 across, and S:KC is 4 across.

I kinda agree with Iggy Coaster, they might just be saving that name for another coaster that would fit the theme better. What super hero can fly? Not Batman. Not the Penguin. ;) Superman! B&M flyers for SFGAdv and SFGAm sounds feasible to me. This is all just stupid speculation though.

I like Nitro's name and logo. I just hate the pink! It makes it look to childish. I think the track should have been all yellow, or substitute orange for the pink, for a Talon-like look.

We're talking about Superman, not Batman. I didn't even mention them. Nor think of them...

I agree with Ride It. Why not move to another superhero? I mean there is Robin, Lois Lane...
