Fav coaster towns

For some of us, coasters are the main reasons to travel, but once the park closes, its always nice to have something to do in a nearby town or city, so what are your fav coaster towns?  Personally, i ADORE Sandusky.  I think its a great town, with good food, and plenty of stuff to do.  Usually when going up to CP, i will drive up, go out to battery park and just drool for a while before i go to the park the next day.  And then find a bite to eat.

 I also love Snadusky because you can pick up a Canadian station that is REALLY, REALLY good.  Could someone tell me what that radio station is because they are always playing fantastic music when i'm there.  They play a lot of good non-commercial folk and art pop/rock and that sort of thing.  Perhaps its a college station or a public station.  Any ideas?

Sandusky is my vote too! If nothing else, the view is beautiful.They have some great parks on the lake to where you can just sit for hours and watch the boats go by!

I find places like Santa Claus, Sandusky, Hershey, etc. absolutely DREADFULL after the parks close. I'm a big city kid and personally repulsed by small town life (and YES I lived in a small town, Kokomo, IN, for about a year).

So if I had to pick, I'd say Chicago and Orlando are my favorites, with Toronto close behind :)

Ok, i admit it, the main reason i started this is so that someone would direct me to the site of that darn radio station.  :)  So still, any help is appreciated. 

Oh yeah, i also think that orlando is fun, too.  or at least citywalk.

My personal favorite would be San Antonio.  After the parks closes the Riverwalk area is just wonderful. Teh Riverwalk has block after block of restaurants, shops, and entertainment.  The Alamo is also right next door.  There is also a Mexican shopping and restaurant area in San Antonio that is excellent.

Williamsburg, it's a crazy town. Awsome shopping, nice college, "fun" historical places, and great food.

Where else but Hershey? The chocolate factory, historical places, and just and all around good time are at Hershey.

I believe the station is 88.7 (89x Windsor/Detroit). Probably my favorite radio station, too bad I don't get it over here at MSU. That's usually what I listen to on my drives down to Ohio from Michigan.

Orlando!! Besides going over to the beautiful lake and eating at Friday's at the Radisson, what the heck do you do in Sandusky??? As far as I could tell, there were a couple strips with some fast food places and hotels, but the rest of the area was a bunch of houses that didn't look too nice or expensive on the exterior. By far the least interesting city I've ever been to at night. If I missed something or you have any recommendations for next time, please inform me. Thanks! Chicago(sans the airport), Cleveland, Cinci, DC, Anaheim, LA, Tampa, Gatlinburg, all have something fun to do after the parks close. Orlando, especially Citywalk and Downtown Disney have a whole weeks worth of stuff for me to do!!

Ok, what's weird is that the dial numer sounds correct:  88.7  BUT, i just found the website, and i don't think that's it.  The website i found had a linkin park banner on the front page, and the station i was lsitening definately would not play linkin park.  But its bothering me, because the 88.7 dial number sounds really familiar.  Hmmm.  The night i was leaving CP last summer they were playing a bunch of  singer/songwriter type stuff, a lot of it canadian.  Its seems like it was a college station but i'm not sure.

I like Sandusky, just in general.  Its a very nice town.  There's a good selection of resteraunts in the area, and nice places to just root around.  I'm not neccesarily looking for fun, after Cedar Point anyways, because if you do CP right, its just about the most grueling park you can do.

I thought the Disney parks and Busch Gardens were much more exhausting than CP although after those parks close, I like to go to a nice restaurant, grab something to eat, and look around some of the DD or CW shops for awhile. Relaxing and fun for me. That night at the Friday's at the Radisson after CP closed was just a dream as well though. The perfect setting, weather, night skies, lights, waters, etc. Dare I say, perhaps more amazing than the park itself that day. My first ride on the train, Gemini, Country Nites, and Blue Streak were very dreamy as well though.

I, too, love Sandusky. I love the feeling of the downtown area as you travel to the Point. The only down side of Sandusky is the lack of nightlife. I'd love to see Sandusky, or Cedar Point put in some sort of City Walk (Universal has that), or Disney's Pleasure Island...

Elysburg, PA...c'mon 2hostyl, I grew up on the East Coast (NJ, MD, FL)...it's cool to be able to hang out around a bonfire with the folks from the frozen tundra north of the M-D line!  Can't really do that in Orlando... Chicago, Toronto WAY too far north for me, I freeze at temps below 60F.  I guess my chain grease loses viscosity...LOL!

Kokomo, IN is a small town? Try living in Urbana, Indiana for a year. I've been here 8. We have: walking along railroad track, church, visiting the mini mart. That is our fun, but I really don't want to live anywhere else.

Easy, the Greatest place on Earth, NYC. Although we have about three coasters nearby (Dragon Coaster, Jumbo Jet and Cyclone), we don't really need coasters to survive

Me too! I thought Hershey was extremely disappointing. It was like a freaken ghost town.

I do love the location of Alton Towers though. It's way out there. Wonderful setting though.

I also thought Santa Cruz was pretty cool...
