Hey angnjc, don't let your ride ride Desperado as her first hyper because it is be far the worst one i have been on. It really is poorly designed and not very much airtime. Let her ride goliath first if it is possible then she get a better idea of what hypers really are about. She probably get the idea that hypers are just large, boring, and painful coasters if she rides Desperado first.

Raging Bull. At the time, I had never been on such a smooth coaster, the closest being B:TR. I was amazed at it's smoothness. I though nothing could get smoother than B:TR, but apparently alternating positive and negative Gs make it much better than unrelentless positive Gs.

I am not sure, but the first one I remember was Magnum in '99 when I was 13. But, I could be wrong on that.

What was it and what did you expect.   Mine was Steel Force when it first came out. I was ten and I really had no clue what to expect. I just knew it was really tall and fast.

Nice Name.

Mine was Desperado.  I thought it was Ok, but as many of yo have said, it only has one airtime hill, and I think it could use more.  I thought the first drop was cool though.  However, i was blown away by Goliath, that helix near the end was so sweet.  It is now my second favorite coaster.  (Goliath is good, but Riddler's Revenge was the bomb!)

mine was goliath , did not expect much from a coaster that had no inversions. Boy was i wrong. what goliath lacked in inversion it more than made up in speed and intensity

My first hyper was also Desperado, followed by Magnum. At the time I thought these type coasters were huge oddities, and although fun, I thought they lacked imagination compared with wooden and inverted coasters. Needless to say, Intamin, Morgan and Giovanola changed that thought.

Mamba was mine, and it is still my only one to date. I rode it last year when I was 12 (Don't laugh) and that started my enthusiasm in coasters.

Mine was Magnum back when I was nine years old. I was scared to death of its height as I was even a bit scared of Kennywood's coasters. I was dragged on it on our last ride of that trip in the dark

Believe it or not, I only experienced my First Hyper Coaster this year in 2001, I finally made the trip upto Blackpool to ride The Pepsi Max Big One, TPMBO was quite a good hyper with one amazing Drop, But Really after that, its just your average coaster, Its not totally Bad though, and does give out a good ride, but the ride is only good for its drop really. Still worth riding though, and It was excellent finally riding my First Hyper.
Also a few days after Blackpool, I head to Ohio to ride Magnum(My second Hyper) Magnum was good, but I found it terribly rough all over, But then on one of my Rides, I got the most amazing ride ever, A Hard hyper to judge as it only happened once, then I got rough rides again???

As for my third Hyper, I havent got a clue what it will be. I am hoping to make my way out to California next year to ride Goliath, so prehaps it will be that???? We will see anyway

Mine was Magnum Xl-200.
Thats kind of funny because I live in California, and most peoples out here is Goliath. Actually, I have been on 3:
Magnum
Millenium Force
Phantoms Revenge
I really enjoyed all of these. Millenium Force was just plain cool, magnum had a nice view and Phantoms Revenge was a ton better than I expected, and had some cool headchoppers!

I think that I'm the only enthusiast that has never been on a hyper.  It's sad.  I hope that there are others like me.  Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure that Wild Thing at Valley Fair is only 150 feet tall.  Of course I could be getting it mixed up with Steel Eel at SWoT.
