Do you think Holiday world will ever build a steel

TMTCC, you need to start using correct spelling, capitalization and punctation quickly, or you'll probably start to see your posts disappear. There's a spell check button right next to the "Submit" button. Use it.

Also, you posted three messages in a row in this thread. What's the need for that? It just takes up space and confuses people. Put it all in one post.

Anyway...

The next big thing at Holiday World will be something for the water park. The park's PR rep posted something to R.R-C about her thoughts that a lot of enthusiasts might want to take advantage of the ERT for the new Splashin' Safari attraction.

I can't see them building a huge steel coaster, but how about a mine train? They're fun for the whole family but still provide some good thrills.

First of all, Holiday World has a steel coaster, "The Howler." :)

Second, if you want to ride Holiday World's dearly departed "Firecracker", it is now owned by Amusements of America, has been re-painted and completely refurbished (the rolling brake has been removed :( ). It's now called the "Avalanche," and I just saw it this morning. It starts a 17-day run tomorrow (8/3) at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, Ohio.

How about Kennywood, They're a traditional themepark and they have a hyper coaster.

I say Holiday World should stick on the Wooden path. Why ruin a good thing. The greatest site would be a woodie right between the 2 existing woodies. Move the diving act to another location, and add in the next great woodie. I am sure that the park has really increased their revenue after the addition of Legend. Plus, a steel coaster would ruin the small park feel, and the price tag is really steep. They already have the former CCI employee maintaining the coasters why not give him a bit more work.

I would say the chances are slim for Holiday World to get a steel. I dont see any steel in the future for them, I would say Holiday World wooden coasters are in more favor of them. Ride The Legend and Raven both are very excellent coasters. I see Holiday World more of a wooden coaster park my self. I have been there.

The park could maybe use a mine train, a nice family coaster. Perhaps themed in a wintery, North Pole fashion.

Hmmm. Well, Lake Compounce has a boomerang, and it doesn't diminish the "small park feel" in the least. I don't think HW needs a steel coaster, but I could see them getting a mine train, mouse, or even the family version of the ArrowBATic.

You know....a Pinfari or Zamp inverted wouldn't be bad for HW. They both have small footprints and pack more wallop than a standard mouse would.

Santa's Supersonic Sleighride anyone? :)

There are a ton of steel coasters that would fit Holiday World just fine:
A Nick FSS type ride over Splashin Safari (in the works maybe...)
A mine train themed to the 4th of July
(and my personal favorite) A Bobsled coaster themed to Santa's sleigh.

Steel doesnt have to mean HUGE. I dont think one ever needs to think of NITRO and Holiday World in the same sentence, but if Knoebel's can have Whirlwind, what's the real difference?

In the 4th of July section they could place a S&S launched called the Bottle Rocket. Holiday World has no need for steel if it doesn't fit the theme. As for how Raven can rate higher than Legend, it is older so more votes, no nasty Gerstlauer trains that only add intensity through discomfort, no dead spots like Legends second half of the helix and another spot shortly after that.

Actually, I think that a Master Blaster type water coaster would fit very well in the water park. But that's about it.

I would hope that Holiday World NEVER builds a steel coaster. Not that I have any qualms personally, but the park has tremendous atmosphere and doesn't need that tainted. I want to go somewhere different from the Corporate parks...places that don't have towering skylines, where the fun is hidden in the trees. That IS Holiday World. Leave it alone...

I personally would like to see a large L-shaped out and back, station near Holidog's Funtown, curving around the back of the park and behind Legend. CCI, of course, about 100-120 ft. tall.

How does a steel coaster taint the atmosphere? Most small parks have a steel coaster of some sort, are you saying that none of them have atmosphere?

And yet, you don't mind a 116 foot tall wooden coaster looming above everything else. A mouse, mine train, bobsled (good idea, 2Hostyl), or FSS would be smaller than the Legend.

And why couldn't a steel coaster be hidden in the trees? Think of a mine train or bobsled racing through the woods. Sounds pretty fun to me.

I completely agree with 2Hostyl -- steel doesn't have to be some huge mega-looper or hyper. There are plenty of options for a steel coaster that would preserve the atmosphere of the park and could be easily themed to fit one of the areas.

The worst thing for HW to do would be to change what they have been doing the last ten years.Im sure they will add another in time, they will more than likely add other park and water park improvements,slides shows,maybe a good dark ride would fit nicely!!!.And as far as will they ever build as steel coaster,someone already said they have one ,Im sure once the funds are there they will build a STEEL coaster that will fit there small park needs ,how about a Steel Eel sized coaster no inversions, that follows the terrain of the park.
