Will we be seeing more Mr. Freeze coasters?

Does anyone know of a site with a picture of the Mr. Freeze coaster, I tried looking for one but couldnt find it.

I always thought those rides were the least rough hmmmmm.

Well, your track record shows that you havn't riden this peice of "crap". I don't see how you can call any Multi-Million dollar investment a peice of crap. Yea rides hurt, so what? Are you so scared of a beating, that you won't ride a ride?

I LOVE Mr. Freeze at SFoT. I get no more headbanging than on any other coaster with OTSR. It's no worse than Batman TR right next to it. Which means I think it's smooth, and a blast. I love being launched through the tunnel, and going up the spike, especially in the front seat. The front of the car is about knee level, so it looks like there's nothing between you and the sky and you're about to fly off the end. Also the only coaster that is fun going backwards. I think the OTSR may even be NECESSARY on this ride, because going backwards vertically you could bang your head on your knee when the force pulls you backwards.

Now, the other Premier LIM I've been on, Poltergeist, is another story. I won't ride that one again unless they get lap bars. Your head bangs nonstop throughout the whole ride. It's a freaking disgrace. BTW, anyone know why it's so darn LOUD? *** This post was edited by Shady12 on 7/29/2001. ***

Thanks Peabody. I was trying to find pictures of the "Top Hat" inversion. My friend told me that Mr. Freeze was the only one that had it. Which was a coincidence that this post popped up the same day. That looks fun!

I love Mr. Freeze! Every one is different! I think it all depends on where you exactly ride on the train. I feel the front seat is not as rough as the back. I have ridden front, back, and middle, and I like the front.It is a little jarring, but I always get a rush.

Yes they are similar. Both are shuttle loop coasters, LIM launched and build by Premier. Mr. Freeze features a top hat element after the launch followed by a 180 degree overbanked turnaround. It then goes up a vertical spike before repeating everything backwards. Speed features an immediate 90 degree overbanked turn after the launch. It then proceeds into a vertical loop followed by more LIM's which add more speed as it winds around a building and then into the vertical spike. I liked Speed better because there was little head banging during the ride, BUT if they put lapbars on both I would definately like Mr. Freeze better. Hardly anything beats a tophat from the front seat when going backwards, it's just a wonderful sight and feeling.

I'm like Soggy, I LOVED Mr. Freeze (SFStL). Easily my favorite Launched (S:UE, JJ, FOF (both of them, even w/; just the lapbars), H:XLC, V:TBC, Hulk). It's about the only shuttle coaster I would put in a top ten list. The top hat is just a freaky inversion and the skipe gives a nice floatly feeling. I rode both front & back and felt one *touch* of banging in the back, going backwards, exiting the wraparound curve, but that was it. That thing is fantastic! I only wish SFA had one!

I absolutely LOVE Mr. Freeze at SFStL! One of my favorite coasters. It all just depends on what row of the train you sit in and how you sit in the seat. I have found that the closer to the front of the train you sit, the smoother it is. If you rest your head against the back of the seat and don't put any pressure on it., there will be MINIMAL headbanging. I usually never have any problems with headbanging, though...

Well i heard that there will be a coaster in 2002 at sixflags america called MR. Freeze but it will be a stand up coaster not like the other coasters called MR. Freeze

I havent been on a Mr. Freeze, but I have been on B&R:TC, and I still think it is smooth. I have never heard anyone complain about it getting off. Still one of my favorites. :)

I have ridden both Mr. Freeze rides, and I find them to be extremely temperamental. Sometimes the ride won't bang my head to much, and other times it seems like it's a boxing match. However, I've never ridden a Mad Cobra model, so I cannot compare.

Every time I ride Mr. Freeze, I think, "Incredible launch, but what the hell happened with the rest of the ride?" I find the top hat fun, but nothing to ride home about. The overbanked turn is cool, but the spike does nothing for me--I never feel any big sensation coming back down (and I didn't on S:TE either). I always get off feeling like the ride should have done some other things. But I am not a fan of shuttles, so perhaps I'm biased against it.

Maybe with the lapbars the Mr. Freeze rides would be a completely different story for me. But until then, I find them to be a decent ride at best, and certainly nothing to write home about. It would not be a bad addition to a park, but with all of its maintenance problems, I think there are other coasters that would be a better investment.

According to the "official" count, next year's new coaster lineup will feature 17 Arrow 4-Ds, 21 TA2Ks, 34 B&M floorless's, 17 Intamin Gigas, 12 beemer flyers, and 247 CCIs. And oh yeah, CP will receive one of all of these.

I gotta agree with NitroExplodes. I was a little leery about going on the ride, but honestly, I was incredibly surprised by how smooth it was. The only headbanging part IMHO was entering the inversion (on either train) when going backwards, but it's cake considering that Viper and The Great American Scream Machine are in the same park and are more goddamned painful throughout THE WHOLE RIDE. I'm surprised that no one is arguing about how painful the other rides are. Personally, I think that, on a good day, The Chiller is smoother than certain elements on Batman The Ride, a B&M coaster no less! I was shocked to come off with a headache after the quick corkscrews!

The launch is incredible, the inversions are unique, the layout is short but very sweet. It ain't sh*t next to Nitro, but it's certainly the second-best ride in the park (yup, I think it's even better than Medusa). If anything, it's a great adrenaline rush, and isn't that what coasters are all about? So in my book, The Chiller and other LIM coasters, even Premiers, must therefore be good and must be even better with just lap bars!

I went to St Louis just for this ride and the Boss (which was a bit of a letdown). But Mr Freeze lived up to all its expectations.

All 4 elements are excellent. The intense launch, the top hat with the slowing of the train at the top (gives you time to see how high you are), the overbanked turn, and the fantastic vertical climb. The vertical climb was my favorite element and the additional lims boost you slowly toward the top, increasing the sensation of being vertical at that great height.

I do think it would be better with the premier lap bars, and don't see why they wouldn't work myself. A schwarzkopf shuttle runs forward/reverse with a standard lap bar. If you are on the front of the train on SOB, you feel a pause coming out of the loop, like the pause in the top hat. You feel yourself go against the lap bar at that point, but it keeps you in tight.

Josh are you 100% sure about SFA getting a stand-up called Mr. freeze for 2002?and if so where did you hear that,have you spotted any track at SFA besides the defunct python's track?

Because it was built with over-the-shoulders. Premier only put lapbars on the Flight of Fears this year, maybe they'll do the same with their other rides.
