Your crowning/memorable moment for 2003.

Nasai sez:

Just watch Corey's SRM video...I think that says it all...

I did...and you're right. My only complaint: not enough Moosh, and *definitely* not enough Robbie Jr. ;)

mOOSH [now wishing he would have peeked!]

Well Moosh, mine has both....too bad I have to redo it as it went with my hard drive.....:-\

I'll get around to it soon.

LOL Josh. Now if you only had Robbie Jr and MTR in the same scene....

Moosh [relax...Nasai knows I'm kidding]

The saturday of CLP's closing weekend, on the way my mom calls to tell me my grandfather, who was dying anyway was in the hospital near Youngstown in critical condition, I had 3 choices, go down there, if I did go down there I could take the long long way and hit KW then go to the hospital or do what I did. I told my mother that if anyone asks you couldn't get a hold of me, so I went to CLP to ride rides. Which was pretty fun, watching fireworks from the Blue Streak, over and over again. I crashed at my gf's house that night, the next morning when I got home there was a message on my phone from my uncle saying my grandfather just died, oh well I had fun.

Josh, I know you have video of me on LoCoSuMo, but did you get Little Big Rob on tape as well? I don't really remember that night very well, sadly....

Several. Some good/Some not so good.
1) Getting some of the first rides on Drop Zone at PKD. Me--"Ok, that's high enough!", "You can stop now!" as it climbed higher and higher. That drop.
2) Hersheypark installs an Afterburner, and I can ride it as many times as I want without paying $5 each time, and it's only an hour-and-a-half away! The last of my five rides where I popped out of my seat approximately five times.
3) Seeing the homeparks "Two-Face the Flip Side" on CNN Headline News. They finally bring the train back into the station after two hours of being stuck.
4) Seeing both the red and blue train of S:ROS at SFA on the lift at the same time separated by mere feet.

Other than my ride on TTD, I would have to say meeting with some great people from www.idorapark.org this past year. Organizing great events for coaster buffs around the Youngstown area. Hope everyone here had a spectacular 2003, and here's to a wonderful 2004!

:) Happy New Year Everybody! :)

Hey, when I went into Idora the other day I saw Idorapark.org written on the cement.
Considering I didn't go to CP this year...

10 rides in a row on S:UF at BuzzCon!

Second to that would be my religious experiences on a slew of new-to-me coasters that rocked my world: Tremors, Apollo's Chariot, Great Nor'Easter, and Timber Terror.

An SLC rocked? Say it isn't true! :)

It did, person...and I'm as shocked as you! I dare anyone to ride the front seat of Great Nor'Easter and not proclaim it the single-best SLC experience ever...as well as one of the best steel coaster experiences ever.

mOOSH

Nor Easter is pretty kick ass!

Thanks,
DMC

Do you mean the S:UF at SFGAm? That's the only one I've heard of, I think.

Riding Hercules 3 times then a month later finding out the ride would be demolished was mine. Also being one of the first people on August 1, 2003 to ride Superman: Ultimate Flight at GADV in the back row and experiencing the crazy pretzel loop. What an amazing feeling.
Coaster-related:
1) Finally going to Cedar Point where I got to ride Dragster 6 times, including once for CBS' The Early Show!

2) Getting surprised with a business trip to Inidianapolis - This meant going to PKI (where I hit #100 on The Beast) and Holiday World (where I got the last train of the season in the last row of The Raven).

Non-Coaster-related:
1) Finally moving from the horrible place that is Orlando, FL to my new and MUCH improved home in Atlanta, GA! I'm not only closer to more parks, but I don't have to deal with the heat and incessant rudeness that is oh-so-prominent all over the sunshine state.

2) Meeting a few enthusiasts and hanging out with those I've met in the past. I've had some good times with Sean, Bill, Joe, Keith, Brett, and Paul this year - to name a few (I actually met a million people at Cedar Point and IAAPA, but I can't remember anybody's names because I'm an ex-burnout).

There were a few.

1. My first ride in the front seat of TTD. I had already been on it a few times before getting the coveted front seat. I ended my CP season with a second front seat ride at night, which was incredible.

2. My first rides ever on Hypersonic and Volcano, both going beyond what I had expected from both. Great rides.

3. My very first flight ever on a skycoaster - Xtreme Skyflyer at PKI. Always had a fear of them but was determined to conquer one. Now I'm hooked but not sure if I'm ready for Kissimmee anytime soon.

X Factor

Cool thread!

Here are some of the things that I found to be memorable in 2003.

- My first ride on TTD

- Taking 367 laps in a row on GASM at SFOG

-Driving from Albuquerque to Denver and back

- Spending some great time at Lakeside in Denver and having a good time at SFEG (yes, it is possible)

-IAAPA 2003

- Getting night rides on the Dania Beach Hurricane (“rrrrrrrrrriiip!”)

-Riding Roller Soaker for the first time….in the rain

-Riding my 500th coaster (Titan at SFOT)

-Taking my first night ride on X at SFMM

-Finally getting to ride Xcellerator at Knott’s after my 4th visit to ride it

-Being blown away by the two seconds that is G-Force in Kissimmee

-My first and second rides on S:RoS at SFNE

-Riding Speed 30 times in a row

-Riding Big Shot 30 times in a row

-Seeing the reaction of Jay and Richard Hendry after their first TTD ride.

-Spending some time in NYC and getting one, mean, and nasty ride on the Cyclone

-Delirium in underwear. N’uff said

-A quick and strange trip to Camden Park with good friend Alan Conceico

-Getting a rollback on TTD (yea, I know. A lot of TTD mentions but I really do love that ride)

-Attempting to go skydiving in Las Vegas but being “grounded” by Mother Nature at the very, very last minute

-Riding S:UF at SFGAm over 30 times in one day (no match for Brian though)

-Walking across the Hoover Dam

-Doing all 4 Disney parks in Florida in about 8 hours

-Spending some great time with some incredible people whom I call friends (you know who you are)

-Realizing how important friends are and how negative moments can be turned around to become positive. The bottom line: The good far outweighed the bad.

That’s some of my more memorable moments for 2004. There were some more but I will have to save those for another time as I really need to get some sleep.

-Sean

P.S. Special congrats to Kevin and Samantha Smallhorn as they have just become parents for the first time. Welcome to the world Charlie!

PPPPPPP as always.

Not too many specifically memorable moments, but the season as a whole and especially the people I got to meet was the best yet.

I also started learning how to play DDR. ;)

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Mine is similar to many; an opening day ride on TTD after a 4.5 hour wait. That is a good memory.

Hitting #200 was cool - even if it was Wild Thing at VF. :)

One other memorable moment but hardly a good one, was that silent walk out of Holiday World with hundreds of stunned people.

On the personal side, it was a sad year for me - I lost my dad to cancer. He was my best friend and life long fishing buddy. I don't know if I'll even take the boat out next year. Frankly, I'll be glad to see 2003 go.

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them".
