FILTHY PARK, DISGUSTING bathrooms. Absolutely lazy employess. No professionalism and CRAPPY unkept rides and landscaping. IT WAS HORRIBLE AND WAY OVER PRICED!.
$15 to park $50 to get in and $15 extra to cut in front of others waiting in line for hours. NOT cool at all.
I actually think that the extra $15 for the flash pass thing is so wrong and unfair. At superman their was NO EMPLOYEE at the passing point so a bunch of THUGS kept getting off the ride and getting right back on and of coarse no one says anything afraid of starting a riot. Incredible. Another thing, Why do they not fill trains. The lines are so long and they let trains go with up to 7 empty seats I saw?????
The worst part of my short stay their was when in line for Superman which is so tight and horrible of a maze I could not believe it a young man passed out and was having a EXTREMELY BAD asthma attack and had not inhaler for some reason. He passed out and was choking up a storm and we asked the lemonade guy to call for help. 15 minuts later people started yelling at the lemonade guy as he said he called for help but, nobody was showing up. He left the lemonade finally and ran and got a securtiy officer who walked and did not hurry to the scene. The officer then called the paramedics and 24 minutes after the kid fell they came and got him. IT WAS SO
REDICULOUS I could not believe it was happening so slowly. To end this long post I will just say no matter what ride they build in any of the Six Flags parks I would NEVER, EVER, give them one cent of my money again. I really wish they were all closed or sold to Cedar Fair. They should be ashamed of how they operate. I do relize I am spoiled having CP as my home park. I appreciate how they operate so much!
"Er, that Kinda Ka sure is painted nicely..."
I mean, let's face it, everyone has had a bad experience at a theme park (some more than others, some very, very frequently). But these problems could happen at any park, anywhere, not just at Six Flags parks.
Six Flags may have a tarnished record (that's a nice way to put it), but for a company that's two billion dollars in debt, it's not as bad as it could be. Sometimes, I beleive these problems are blown out of porportion (although I'm not saying that's the case in the orignal post).

I am with you. I am complaining that they should not even offer that as it is unfair for anyone to be able to cut in line at all..
Sorry but, SIX FLAGS parks are dumps!

I do not post much on here but, I do read alot and throw in my 2 cents here and there.
I'm the same way, and very rarely do I read trip reports, but figured I'd stop by today. Nice name, by the way ;)
Yesterday I was passing through Chicago and decided to stop at great america to try out Superman and Raging Bull just to check them off of my "want to ride" list. I knew it would be busy on a saturday in August but, that was my only option. Having 2 terrible SIX FLAGS experiences in the past at Magic Mountain and Worlds of Adventure now Geagua Lake and much better I knew not to expect much from the park. I am gonna break it down really short and sweet here.FILTHY PARK, DISGUSTING bathrooms. Absolutely lazy employess. No professionalism and CRAPPY unkept rides and landscaping. IT WAS HORRIBLE AND WAY OVER PRICED!.
Odd, as almost all of the other people on these forums have the opposite view of this park in the Six Flags chain. Since you only have one story below though about it, I don't know if you had more bad experiences or did you only stop by to ride two rides?
$15 to park $50 to get in and $15 extra to cut in front of others waiting in line for hours. NOT cool at all.
First off, if you paid full price to get in, you now have a Six Flags season pass, so that isn't too bad of a deal. If you didn't want a season pass, there are a million coupons you could've used to get cheaper admission. You drove to the park, so you had to buy gas, and any gas receipt gets you $15.00 off at the gate.
As it is, this is pretty much the normal admission price for a park this size now. Heck, Disney World is now up to $67.00, and that's a one day ticket. Now, Six Flags isn't Disney, but the difference between a Six Flags day pass with gas coupon ($35.00) and a Disney ticket is nearly half.
I actually think that the extra $15 for the flash pass thing is so wrong and unfair. At superman their was NO EMPLOYEE at the passing point so a bunch of THUGS kept getting off the ride and getting right back on and of coarse no one says anything afraid of starting a riot. Incredible.
Then why didn't you say something to an employee when you saw one? You shouldn't have to do that, but if I see that going on and I don't like it, I would have asked.
And if Superman was taking Flash Pass, there would have been an employee there. They can't accept it without one there to mark the passes.
Another thing, Why do they not fill trains. The lines are so long and they let trains go with up to 7 empty seats I saw?????
This is simple, actually -- the customers at the park decide where they are going to sit. If those people don't fill up the whole train and leave one seat empty per row, it would take longer to find riders to fill those seats than it would to send that train and fill the next one. Sending trains quicker is always better than sitting around looking to get another two people for the train. You're either serving 26+ people (depending on the size of the train) or waiting for 2 while making 26+ wait to get off the ride too.

Did you actually go to Great America yesterday, or is this just a rant? The "horrible" maze for Superman at this park is very, very small and is far away from the station. From what I understand, the ride uses the old Shockwave queue with few modifications, and after this short maze there is a very long straight section that heads toward the station.
Now, there are conflicting things in your report. You talked about a bunch of thugs which you saw get off the ride and get back on multiple times. Judging on where this portion of the queue is, I don't think that you would have been able to make out the same people doing such a thing more than once, if that.
The maze itself from what I understand of it is much more open than many of the ride queues at Cedar Point. I have yet to experience the Superman queue line in Chicago, but if it is similiar to the Shockwave queue from when I did get to go to that park, I don't understand how you can say that the queue line is any worse than the much larger queue lines for rides like Magnum, Millenium Force and others at Cedar Point.
I have to take everything else that you said with a grain of salt because of that. If you were there, how were the other rides that you went on? What other rides did you go on? What was wrong with the restrooms (I've heard this is one of the parks that has people now stationed at all times in each bathroom)?
You need more details to make sure a claim.
From later down the page...
No I am not complaining about the price to cut in line.I am with you. I am complaining that they should not even offer that as it is unfair for anyone to be able to cut in line at all.
If you really had such a limited amount of time at the park, why didn't you take advantage of the passes then? It seems to be that an upcharge like the Flash Pass works because not everyone purchases them. If they did, what would be the point? And since parks (especially the Six Flags corporation) need to make more money, who can fault them for offering such a service?
Sorry but, SIX FLAGS parks are dumps!
Back up your claims with details before making posts. You just sound bitter to me.
...and now back to my usual non-reading of the TR threads...
Everything else you are stating , sorry to say, is not what this particular SF park is about.
This is one SF park that alot of people enjoy visiting (yes, even the CF fanboys) :)
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
Personally, I've never really had a problem with Six Flags. Sure, they have some crappy properties, but really that all lies in the park, not the chain.

first off I'm pretty sure that flashpass is offered to all guests so if your a cheap a**hole you deserve to wait in line. Heres a thought coasterguy maybe you can get 50mill other people to stop going to SFparks so the rest of us who know there is no such thing as a perfect park can have shorter lines and won't need flashpass
I wouldn't really call people who don't feel like paying extra cash on top of admission cheap a$$holes. Believe it or not, some people can only JUST pay admission, and can't say "oh, just another $XX.XX, who cares, I can splurge once and a while". Sorry, but just reading that, the way you worded it, made you sound like the a$$hole. *** Edited 8/15/2006 2:13:11 AM UTC by P18***
I'm really sick of people painting all the Six Flags parks in one light when really, they're all somewhat separate entities. MY local SF - Georgia - is awesome with an excellent selection of coasters for all tastes, great scenery, great ride operation with multiple trains at basically all times, solid maintanance/upkeep, and acceptable if not world-beating service. Certainly your mileage may vary, but it's not as if all the Cedar Fair parks are awesome. I've never been, but Great America in Cali seems like a total dump.
So, yeah.
First: I was there from 5:30pm. till 9:40p.m. on Saturday.
2nd: Why is it that people cannot just state a bad trip report without you kids on here getting all wacked out and start swearing at people.
3rd: I have plenty of cash and that is not the point here. The point is that it is just a show of the greediness involved in the chain. If eveyone paid the extra cash, then their will someday be even longer lines for everyone don't ya get it? I do not agree that CP offers the VIP either. I think during regular hours Everyone should have to wait in the same line. It is pretty simple. CP employees even wait in the lines when they ride.
4th: EVERY INCH of my post was the truth and fact from Saturday night at the park. Their was no employee for the last 25 minutes of my long wait at Superman and the "THUGS" were indeed getting off the ride and getting right back into line on the right hand side for the front of the train then they would cut throught he raling at the top of ths steps and head to the back of the train. Their were so many people on the station because of lack of control that the few ride ops did not see it at all. NOBODY is willing to let them no in fear of a brawl when their are alot of these thug types doing it.
The que for Superman was very tite and narrow compared to most other QUES I have been in over my life. Oh, THE past 25 years of coaster riding. It may seem even more though as it is completely enclosed for the first 1.5 hours of my wait on Saturday as the ride did break down for about 15 minutes.
The emplyees are lazy. When someone passes out and it take nearly 25 minutes for help to arrive but the guy can still sell Lemonade then something is wrong.
The restroom I stopped in at the front of the park walking from Ragining Bull to Superman was disgusting "At the time".
The park was dirty. and unkept, YES IT WAS. I saw so many trash cans that were overflowing it was rediculous. I also noticed that a lot of signs needed repainting and their were tons of cigarette butts everywhere and crap on the sun shades etc.. It is odd but, maybe it is just me, When I used to play Rollercoaster Tycoon alot I now notice that little stuff in the park like, flowers, and trash etc.. It cannot be just me that sees this stuff after playing that game. ???
So why is it that you guys jump all over people on here. I go to Cedar Point at least 20 times per season and it NEVER EVER looks like the park I was in this past satruday.. Neither Did Holiday World when I was there. Or Disney or Bush Gardens etc.. I have now been to 3 Six Flags parks and 2 out of the 3. Magic mountain and Great America were both VERY BAD in my eyes. I would not go back.. this is not a rant this is a factual trip report and why is it that you guys cannot handle it?
As far as the rides. Raging Bull was fun and a nice coaster. Nothing to write home about but, I enjoyed it.
Superman was very different as I had hoped, I did feel a little too much blood to my head on the first Inversion then the rest was short but, fun and unique. I do not consider myself an ethusiast just a fan of coasters. I go when I can but, it does not take over all of my travels. Ok is that better now, can you guys grow up and play nice..
No need to swear in front of the younsters.. Unless your youngsters yourselves??????
The same reaction would be 10-fold if someone visited CP and said the exact same things you stated about SFGAm and concluded in their TR that "CF parks are dumps".
Say what you will, but just like CP, SFGAm is regarded as a clean, efficiently operated park. If you caught it on a bad day, that is to bad.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Any park that thinks it's acceptable to offer guests a bad day even just once in awhile doesn't deserve to be successful. Any customer who thinks it's acceptable for a park to have bad days deserves whatever bad days he gets. At least, the guests should be told which days will be the bad ones, so they get to decide if they want to show up or not.
