Xcelarator Restraints

How many people noticed the significant changes to the seats on Millennium Force for the 2001 season?

I know a little notch appeared on the front of the seat so the bar could go down further and the position of the seat was moved around a bit (for the lowered height requirement). Was there anything else?

That's funny,I didn't notice any changes on SFA's S:ROS,which has the same trains as CP's MF.
Mammosh,

True, you did ride with the lap bars in the up position (last June correct?), but not the same way the Intamin guys do it. =:^)

Yes, Sean, June of 2000.  You and I and about ten others all rode MF with the lap bars fully open.  I wasn't worried about falling out...were you??

Actually, the trains on MF have headrest unlike the S:RoS trains.

Mamoosh,

I wasn't afraid of falling out one bit. Riding like that was much easier than I thought would be possible.

 Rideman,

Are you talking about something regarding the bar or grab handle in front of the rider?

-Sean

S&S is basically got crushed by intamin with knott's new coaster.  The only reason to go with A thrust air 2000 is cost. Since you know Intamin will be hell expensive and We all know the thrust airs are cheap.(i read on a site interview Stan C.)  the funny think is I always dreamed hypersonic would have 2 overbanked turns and in reality it is just crap now.  I also dream PKD would addon on to the ride. That would be cheap and easy to do.  The ride is like snap n go track.  They resembled the ride from utah to virginia is like 1 month almost. Again that is a dream.  Virginia is done for for a while.  Busch Gardens already stated they are going to stop building coasters for a while do I guess a 3 year wait before PKD gets a new ride.(the wild mouse sucks)
On Millennium Force, which uses a train very different from the S:ROS trains, the headrest assemblies were redesigned, new grab-handles were installed on the backs of the odd-numbered seats, the pan on the back of the seat was changed, new structures of some kind were added beneath the seat (the seat might bave been raised a half-inch or so, but it didn't feel that different; it just looked different). Oh, and that "notch" in the front of the seat, along with the 'bump' at the front edge of the seat, has ben there since the day the ride opened.

I don't know exactly what they did, but my suspicion is that the seat frames were strengthened and there is a possibility that they tipped the seats backward slightly. But I'm not positive. I noticed that they had made some big changes, but I wasn't familiar enough with the 'old' design to know exactly what they did. :)

The Millennium Force train is very different from the Superman trains...for starters, the front seats in the cars have the same gap between them as the back seats; the floor is higher in the back of the car, and the seats all have headrests.

How did you guys get to do that?  Was it just something that wasn't noticed or was there some other reason?:)...

hypercoasterman:  Sorry you don't believe me.  I have plenty of witnesses, including Sean F, who was on the train with me.

Force312:  It was not a mistake or an error.  The ride ops knew.  We were all allowed to stay in out seats and leave the lap bars up.

The restraints on Xcelerator will most likely be lapbars, but not the usual T-shaped lapbar. It might be a new type of lapbar. We'll find out eventually.

Whoa, unless your reading your crystal ball right, which I don't think you are, than you don't know jack about Ricochet. Watch it be the best damn Mouse out there. Besides, is it going to bother you that much if you don't get a new ride for 3 years? We have Volcano, the new FoF, Hypersonic, and many other classics...Jeez, wan't some cheese with that whine?

Sorry for being a little slow here, but what's this I'm hearing about a MF ride with the lap bars up?

RagingBullGuy:  not much to tell, really.  Sean and I and about a dozen others were all allowed to ride MF with the lap bars completely open...all the way up...unlocked...however you wanna put it.  It was really no big deal.
Matthew,

I agree.  To be honest, I totally forgot about that until this thread.  We did have full permission to ride that way, and as a matter of fact, if I am not mistaken, the ride ops told us NOT to put the bars down.

Sean (no bars AND complete circut) F.

Sean:  you got a complete circuit??
You guys got to too...? Pretty fun huh...;)

You guys must have done something wrong because when I rode full circuit I had to put the bar down.

I would expect SOME sort of lapbar AND a seat belt, as EVERY coaster at Knotts has BOTH lapbars AND seatbelts. What type of lapbar??? Time will tell. I would expect something along the lines of MF lap restraints.
