Xcelarator Restraints

Hi, I was just wondering if Xcelarator will feature lap bar restraints or OTSR's. In the artist rendering it seemed to not have OTSR's. Just wondering....
It most likely will have lapbars.

What I want to know is will the top hat really have no supports as in the rendering? Then again it's just that.

That would make it very unstable IMO. Although it would probably just be like their impulses which just wobble.
Huh?  What's the correlation between the restraints and the Impulse Wobble?

None, we're talking about the half unsupported top hat.
Were not talking about the restraints, Taipan asked about the supports on the top hat and I was giving him my guess.
LOL you answered that question liked right before I did so there are two posts on the same subject. Whoops...
Hopefully, it will have lapbars, thats gonna be some serious air at the top. But who knows what to expect after the Perilous Plunge accident.
There is not going to be a tophat.  The train will ride on the outside of it instead of being inverted. I'm absolutly sure of this.

My guess would be to expect lap bars and seat belts but that the lap bars would have a much lower "first click" position.

As for the wobble potential...remember that is an artist's rendering...there might be much less unsupported track on the inverted top hat than it appears.

I wouldn't expect a lower 'first click' as Intamin's lap bars have no 'clicks' to them. But perhaps a shorter seat belt. I wonder if Intamin might redesign their lap bar S&S-style to keep the feet back as well. Or perhaps make the seat a little deeper.

I sure hope they don't make their lapbars S&S style. Those, along with Premier lapbars, are the worst design known to man.
Where are these renderings that you guys are mentioning?

RideMan:  I know Intamin lap bars don't have "clicks" but I couldn't think of a better way to explain it.  I just meant that they would need to be in a lower position to dispatch.  But I'm probably wrong on that point anyway...just speculatin'.

One thing I *do* expect to see:  TONS of signage in the queue regarding rules and regulations, especially concerning height and weight guidelines.

Saviourmachine, would you prefer the old Premier OTSRs?

Ravenguy98: no, I am happy for most people. However, the new lapbars are very uncomfortable for those over 6'3" and impossible for about 6'8" people and taller. I think adding lapbars to Flight of Fear and others was a brilliant idea. I just think the design needs a lot of work.
'Moosh...I figured you knew, but still... :) Also, you can dispatch Millennium Force with the lap bars full-open. :)

I think the actual design may be affected by the...ahem...incident earlier this year. It may be, however, that the nature of any design changes will be affected by the outcome of the investigation, and I have a feeling that any changes might be really hard to notice. But that's only a guess. How many people noticed the significant changes to the seats on Millennium Force for the 2001 season?

Rideman:  That explains how I was able to ride MF with the lap bar in the up position!  No lie.

I stand corrected.  I didn't see the topic shift.  This is what happens when threads aren't properly titled (hint hint)
