WWF Theme Park

When the WWf signed with TNN  and left the USA network  part of the package deal was that Viacom would get movie and  tv roles for their personalities and develop theme park attractions based on WWF properties

So we can pretty much assume that there will be a wrestling themed ride or area at some point  at a paramount park

The WWF is a lot more family friendly than it used to be    Viacom made them drop alot of the more racy gimmicks like val venis(porn star) godfather(pimp)  Mr Ass(Billy Gunn) and the cratch shot/suck it(DX catch phrase hand motion)

Finally the bottom line as Stone Cold  would say is this  if Vince McMahon  wants a park it will be built

John: that's interesting.  I didn't know that those were part of the terms of the contract that Viacom and the WWF signed.  if so than a themed area could be in the works as we speak.  while I do believe that there could be a family friendly WWF theme, it definatly shouldn't be handled by the WWF.  while they did tone things down, Vince is going back to the very racey stuff with the Kiss My *** Club and more.  I say let Paramount or someone else not associated with WWF handle theming because otherwise we might end up with the Kiss My *** Coaster.

I subscribe to a wrestling newsletter THE WRESTLING TRIBUNE that talks about wrestling from a purely business style approach,it admits it is scripted, and it reported on the agreement between the WWf and Viacom that included theme park attractions based on WWF properties

I really don't think we have to worry about  a Kiss My *** coaster or  a poontang pie/peoples strudle resturant  as I said before  we will probably get a ride with a name that  can outlive the theme like Undertaker,Stunner,or Smackdown

Paramount still has Hurlers even though Wayne and Garth are forgotten, same with Flight of Fear

www.wrestlingtribune.com   you can view what the newsletter is like  my apologies if that is considered spamming

Batman/Superman, Disney are not fads.  Batman and superman have been around for 1/2 of a century, wrestling has been very popular for what, 5 years.  It was sort of popular in the early 90's but it saw a re-birth in about 96.  But if it was built it would have to be an Anheuser-Busch park;)

When you say fad, do you mean something like Tomb Raider?
I was just at the Smackdown tapings at the Allstate Arena near Chicago last Tuesday. I went in with the notion that I would be entertained and I left satisfied. Most wrestling fans dont take this seriously. We know its scripted, just like a "Play" or other theatre and we take it as just that. I am not looking for competition because I know it doesnt exist. What grills me are some people that stereotype it. I am sorry but groups like Disturbed, LimpBizkit, Creed, Snoop Doggy Dogg, etc. that get involved with the WWF for music,  dont cater to the Trailer park trash crowd. The demographic that I saw at the Chicago show was mixed. Alot of families, alot teenagers, alot of adults, people pulling up in BMW's , Mercedez, Corvettes. You guys that slam this form of entertainment would be very surprised if you went to a show and actually saw what type of fans this attracts. Its a new generation and its "NOT" a fad.

"The Peoples Elbow" or "The Spinaroonie?. Cant decide which is the most electrifying move in sports entertainment!!! LOL
Chitown: my friend was at that show.  she was screaming all thoughout the Hardy match.  anyway, I wasn't able to attent that show, but the last show that I attended I was sitting right next to a family.  I've also read reports where people have sat next to families.  the family crowd is definatly there.  there's also the obvious teen crowd that could support a themed area.  besides that there's the regulars to whatever park the area happens to be in that would wander into it and not think too much of it being related to wrestling.  just because someone's a wrestling fan doesn't mean they're going to come to the park, it just means that if they like coasters and wrestling that they'd be more inclined to go to that park.

Lots of people may like wrestling, but a lot of people despise wrestling, including myself. It sounds entirely to tacky.

OK, at no point did I say there wouldn't be families at the events, but you know what I'm getting at. (How many parents are chaperones?) Look at the Nielsens and I'm sure you'd find the demographic isn't one to draw in a huge crowd. If you doubt that, look at the advertising during the shows. They don't exactly target soccer moms, and soccer moms are who you want to travel somewhere and go to a theme park. You can see that in the Disney spots, and even the family oriented CP spots.

My bet is that everyone on here that is blasting the idea will be in front of me in line if a wrestling ride ever opens   after all it's a RIDE first  a themed ride second

just to clarify what I said earlier in this thread.  I believe the wwf/viacom deal gives viacom the "right" to create theme park attractions based on wwf properties not the obligation so maybe they will maybe they won't

Decent idea, nice job on creating quite the forum, but this arguing is going on for way too long.  WWF will never build a theme park for one reason...they are only good at one thing, and that is what they are doing.  I mean I would not pay the $40 to get into a park that is all WWF themed, and could you imagine the kiddie rides!?  But like I said it is a good idea and I don't know why someone hasn't capitalized on it yet, I mean after all we did have a Wayne's World section at Kings Dominion, and that movie SUCKED!

yeah... the argument seems to be going around in circles.... the bottom line is, could there be a wwf section of a park? yes, there is no good reason why there couldn't be... will there be a full fledged wwf theme park?? most prolly not, as there are hardly any parks period set to such a specific theme...... oh and for the record, wayne's world rules
this is pathetic, this bashing of wrestling and nascar is outragous. For one thing racing and wrestling are very separate and ARE not some exclusive property of the redneck comunity. I live in a an aera where there is an adundance of this type of people. while there are scetainly some who fit that "trailor park trash" there ar eplenty of others who are extremly wealthy and afluent who are big wrestling and nascar fans. or one of each I for one am a big nascar fan. wrestling Iused to be but it got boring with them always blabing on about something. I liked the action. I am so sick of wrestling and nascar getting no respect. wrestling you have to take it fo rwhat it is. it's entertainment mainly marketed and geared towards males 12-25. and defintely knock the acting on those shows. if you look hard enough you can catch some current wrestlers doing guest star spots on 80 and 90s tv shows before they became wrestlers.

settle down and grow up people, it's is after only a theme. I am not the biggest fan of the outlimits but it never kept me form riding flight of hear ot apreciating the theming. I think if done right a WWF section of a park with a coaster and a flat ride or two and a resturant could be very sucsesful. I agre that they shouldn;t show actual matches or anything. I guess they woudl have events there but that every so often woudl be the limit to that. imagine how many teen boys would get thier parents to drag them to the park when they hold bi monthly aperances of popular wrestlers.

Wrestling is not a fad, I remeber watchign it regularly in the 80s.

No one is "bashing" anything (a word I hate nearly as much as "biased"). I don't see people invalidating it as a form of entertainment, I see people indicating that from a business standpoint you can't build a theme park on it. I agree. The scope in audience is too limited, period.

About three years ago I was doing a show at the now defunct Debbie Reynolds Casino in Vegas, and WWF had made bids on the property.  Talk was that they wanted to turn the hotel into a theme property, tear down the theatre/museum and rebuild it into an arena, and then build a theme-park of sorts in the adjoining property, with talk of coasters and flat rides in the mix.  I believe those plans have been thrown by the way side by now, but at least the plans were floating around at some point.

It's funny, people think *I'm* insane for not wanting to go to Knoebels, Holiday World, or Silverwood because I fear the clientle (and there is REAL basis for the fear), yet there are so many people abhorred by a pretty much harmless group of folks."

so who are you afraid of at Knoebels, Holiday World, and Silverwood?

Honestly, I dont feel really comfortable around "small town" white people, especially in Illinois/Indiana. In smaller towns, people are less likely to be exposed to diversity and you wouldn't believe some of the preconcived notions I've run into. Bottom line, I fear that I'd get lynched. Perhaps that is an overestimated risk, but it still happens, so I try to avoid places where it is 'more likely'

I know I'll be accused of stereotyping here, and so be it...call me a "small-town-ist" :)

I don't know, one of my best friends is black and a huge wrestling fan. I think so far this year he's seen events in Texas, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cinci. He's a little radical about it. I don't know that he has ever had any problems (though given his size, I wouldn't mess with him).

What I'm getting at is that the demographic for the WWF might be young, but I never sensed it was redneck racist.

Back on topic, it's still too narrow an audience to support an entire theme park.
