Would CP ever remove another coaster??

Keep in mind though that Valleyfair recently removed their wildcat for an arrow mouse, so it's been done before in Cedar Fair history. Granted CP and VF are very different parks, but it wouldn't be an unheard of move.

I'm all in favor for removal of Wildcat - a mouse would be a great addition to that part of the park, wouldn't take up much space, and would draw a bigger following than its outdated Wildcat predecessor.

DT, while quite unassuming in appearance, outdated, and lackluster in comparison with the other CP thrillrides, seems to have a dedicated following at the park - while I personally would love to see it go, my inner instinct tells me that it ain't going anywhere. And as I've said before, it blocks a prime view of the lake. Just putting in a shaded place to sit down and enjoy an ice cream cone would be a better use of this space.

I think we can all agree that removal of Mean Streak is a pipe dream at best.

Cedar Point would not remove CS, ID, or DT. They have a great variety. When you're operating amusement park, you're operating it for EVERYBODY. CS, ID, and DT are great coasters for the little ones. The beginners that is. Just because you're not interested in one of the coasters doesn't mean it should be removed. Think about the other people who prefer a more mild ride. Cedar Point will always be known as "The roller coaster Capital of the World" because of the great variety of roller coasters. The coasters are available in S, M, L, XL, and XXL. That's why Cedar Point is such a success. In my personal opinion, it may appear that Cedar Point is limited to space, but a good park planner always comes up with a clever idea. There is no point in removing the Iron Dragon. The Mantis is already built on top of it as it is. If ID were removed, there could only be a coaster of the same size to constuct in its place. I think Cedar Point needs a new wooden coaster.

Doesn't WT draw more riders to DT, just like MF did to Mantis? I really like DT. A ride doesn't have to be extreme to be fun. I sure a lot of little kids like DT also. Junior Enthusiasts need rides too. I, too, would be upset if they closed and dismantled the ride.

Widlcat is too fun to take out and it isn't takeing up much room at all.

I don't think CP needs to remove a coaster anytime soon. I'll agree that they have plenty of free space for new coasters.

I like that analogy, but you're forgetting XXXL beginning on May 4, 2003!

Also, I think that the only way they would take out WildCat is if it crashed. Otherwise, it's staying for a very long time. I find interesting that nobody has mentioned Blue Streak yet. I mean, it's old, and doesn't attract too much attention, and most of the "junior enthusiasts" go on the other "junior " coasters like ID, DT, WC, JG (duh) and WE (duh again). To be honest, I wouldn't be heartbroken if they took BS out. I mean, I wouldnt be happy either but it's not the coaster that I try to get to first on opening day.

I am not the real Chris Sawyer...Or am I?...No.

I hope they never take out BS. It is the only wooen coaster in the park worth riding and has some great airtime.Something CP lacks on all of the coasters save for Magnum. It is the only classic the park has so i hope it never goes.

I don't see CP taking out any coasters for at least 10-20 years, unless somekind of freak accident. They still have plenty of room for more coasters. Think about the frontier trail, there is alot of room to put something on either side of that. Also there is room to put something inside of Mean Streaks structure. They could put quite a large coaster in there or smaller coaster(s) with some flat rides. Disaster Transport is in no danger of being removed as there is room to build a out and back, or a tight looping coaster along the beach and next to the parking lot (something like SFWOA Villain or SFNE Batman Dark Knight). They can also move flats around to make room.

They might be thousands of miles away, but they ARE in competition. Both want "the most coasters" to be in their advertising.

Chris, re-read your post. It's a little bit different than the first time I read it. Oh wait, that's because it was edited...!

I didn't really want to keep up the stupid arguement, but I don't want people to think they got over on me.

I think BS may be more popular than MS. And Corkscrew I think would be more likely to go before DT or ID because they are more uniquie! I could see Corkscrew being replaced by a larger looper like a floorless but I hope I get my Intamin wooden twisting airtime machine before one of those gets built!

I was not advocating that CP should remove Wildcat for a mouse. I was just trying to think like a park manager. The advantage to removing Wildcat rather than going to a new location for a mouse would be reduced cost for infrastructure.

I doubt that CP would do this in fact because I believe that they do feel some pressure to at least be in a tie for having the most coasters in the world. Therefore, they probably would pay the extra infrastructure cost for a new location if they added a mouse.

While SFMM is over 2000 miles away, I think that CP both takes some pride in the number of coasters that they have and sees it as an advertising point of value.

I think its blasphemy (sp?) to even mention removing Blue Streak - that ride is awesome, and I usually hit it before Raptor just so I can get some riding in before plunging into that line. And since so many people complain that CP's coasters are bad cause they don't have airtime, removing Blue Streak gets rid of one of the only ones that does!

And also, removal of DT would make "space" sense, but removal of Corkscrew and Iron Dragon does not. The only things that fit on CS or ID's footprint are coasters of identical sizes and layouts. Between PT, Mantis, #16 and the layout of all the midways over in that area, CS and ID are there to stay. They've been rather "built into" the park.

As much as I hate wild mice, I do think swapping Wildcat for one is a good idea ...
