That's a pretty lame thing to say to someone who is hosting your Web site for free.

LOL...How much longer will you be doing that now, Jeff?

I didnt mean it like that jeff, I should of said it better. I would rather click ads then pay the 20$ simply because I really never thought paying that money is helpful to me. Yea I get some new features, but I can live with pop-ups. Now, we appreciate the hosting alot no doubt about it, but if I knew you better or whatnot, I would give you money. I just dont think I would help any site unless I know the people running it. Thats why I said no offence in my post.

I didnt mean it in the way that the site sucks, or its not worth it or whatever, because thats not why. I just feel like Id rather have pop-ups then pay the money really.

I use Safari, which is one of the greatest web-browsers I have ever used.

I have two words: Tab browsing.

Best. Feature. Ever.

Good thing Jeff doesn't have any problems helping a site for someone HE doesn't know, or you'd have to pay for your hosting...

Sigh.

I never thought that I'd be writing this, but I'd like to apologize for what Steve has written in this topic regarding the site. The freedom that Jeff gives us for SFWoA Online is amazing, and I don't think that I could thank him enough for it. People that can't handle one pop-up per page haven't visited many pages on the internet, because it can get a lot worse.

I think someone should be a lot less critical toward the person that hosts the site they help out on.

True Redman, I wont argue with that. But why are you involved anyway? hmmm...

Im sorry for any "problems" i caused. I didnt realize it would be blown out like this.

Pop ups are there for a reason, if it weren't for pop ups you'd pay out the rear for everything, its like TV and Newspapers, its the ads that pay for it, now I know pop ups can be a pain but its either that or pay a ton for net access and so on, I'm just waiting for coasters and ride names to be sold for advertising like they do for most pro sports stadiums, like Pepsi Max- the big one. Think how bad that could get.

I have no financial interest in whether or not you pay Jeff $0.02 or $2,000 Steve...I just find it humorously ironic, that's all.

Besides, you should know me well enough by now that if I see someone doing something really stupid, I'll jump up and point at them and laugh. ;) ;)

So now I have to decide if I want to move one less site when I change servers in a couple of weeks. The irony is that he would apparently prefer to pay $20 per month to some ISP he "knows" instead of paying me $20 for a year. That's gratitude for you!

Fxnib, you've hit on the problem that Jeff faces with his membership program. People are already paying a ton for online access. It rubs 'em the wrong way when content providers ask them to pay for something they thought they were already paying for.

Well, back when "online service" meant CompuServe or AOL or Applenet or Prodigy, that was true. Thing is, that isn't the case anymore. But people's model still hasn't changed.

This particular site has other issues as well, as it's interesting that Jeff has people paying him to supply content for his site....... :)

I think running ads in exchange for Web hosting space free of disk or bandwidth restrictions is a fair trade.

People can feel rubbed however they want. I pay for TV, but it still costs extra for pay-per-view and HBO. I can watch broadcast for free, but I have to sit through ads. Heck, I pay for MTV and I still have to watch ads (sometimes I even see music on Music Television). That's the way content delivery works. I didn't make the rules.

I guess what I find irritating is that, because I participate in the community and have strong opinions, people always want to make everything about me. It's a business. You pay my company money, I offer you a service. You view ads, I offer you a service. It's not any more complicated than that. I don't know Jeff Bezos but I still spend hundreds of dollars at Amazon.com every year. Still more irritating is that some people find even the idea that I could make money on this repulsive (though it's a nice fantasy where I'm sitting). Like capitalism is a dirty word or something.

"Lame" is the mot du jur. It'll have to do for now because there are few instances in every day life to use "assclown" and my favorite, "testicular fortitude."

Jeff, perhaps you could 'harvest' the names of our ISPs and hit them up for money (since without the likes of Coasterbuzz, RCT, and FoodNetwork.com, I'd probably have no need for an ISP). ;)

e, who thinks that SteveWoA's post and your response was about the funniest thing I've read here....ever.

If you dont want adds just pay! I personally don't care, but this one is particularly annoying.
Whoa, new one, almost as annoying. Full page ad that you have to go up in the corner and click skip to go to the requested page. How often does that show up?

Once every 30 minutes, for now anyway. I killed the InVue ads because, well, they kinda suck.
