Why does "everyone" hate Mean Streak?

Hmm, The Legend, Raven, ROAR-east, Son of Beast, Viper (SFGAm), Villian, Cyclops, oh wait, I'm already past five..

Anyway, why do I hate it? Because it sucks! I dont mean to be flip when I say that, but it's true, the ride sucks! It just doesnt *do* anything. It's just a bunch of high in the air turns, long (slow) straightaways and hills that provide elevation changes about as dramatic as an elevator. Riding down the pothole ridden streets of DC provides more airtime and thrills. Mean Streak isnt rough, just boring.

Saying I hate MS would be an extreme overstatement, saying I'm disappointed with the way it runs now is much more accurate. As someone who was lucky enough to get rides on it during it's "prime" (first 3 seasons of operation) and then has to ride it as it is now I can't help *but* be disappointed (much the same way I feel about Mantis) MS was never designed to provide air, it was a speed coaster and as it originally ran I feel it did a pretty darn good job of it. The layout isn't perfect and tight but nor is the design of SOB which I bring up simply because if SOB was braked on the first drop like MS is now I think it'd immediately get the same kind of flack, as it was also built for speed rather than air. Woodies simply weren't made to be as tall as parks have been ordering them and every experiment trying to go against this has failed pretty poorly with the notable exception of the Texas Giant.

SRM 2001: No Lights, No Brakes, No Bell???

I like Mean Streak, but they should do something to smooth the track out, I don't like a wooden coaster to be rough.

It's not horrible, but going down the first hill you can feel brakes grab you two times. I don't like a ride that tries to fight gravity.

Hey Skyboss when I rode Mean Streak last year, the only BRAKES I remember were going to the Station help me out is that correct?

I don't like Mean Streak b/c I waited for that ride for what seemed forever! And it squeaks tooo much. You can hear it make noise in the line.

i rode it last season and im sorry but to my standereds it was plain boring i drove 10hrs to get to cedarpoint and i was very jugmental on there rides and i thouhgt it would be a great ride if they just take out any brakes on that ride what so ever! then it would have been fun. but the brakes just killed a great ride. dont get me wrong i dont hate it i just thought the layout at its speed was boring. oh yea and i almost forgot the fact that when i went i had to wait the whole rim of the queue wich started by the soda machines and the line seemed to be going forever when i fianly saw the staion that was the best part of the exsperiance. hey and if you knock MS down you have space for two decent sized coasters. *** This post was edited by MrMightyMouse on 6/19/2001. ***

Yeah, force I did that. And roughness isn't the problem. It's boring. That's enough for me. And like I've said before, any ride where you have to ride in a certain position to enjoy and to be more comfortable not specifically designated by the park is not a good ride.

I just flat out don't really like MeanStreak. It's not the worst wooden coaster I have been on but it's not the best. MeanStreak doesn't even make my top 10. Anyway pity on those that love this coaster.

Blue Streak is a much better coaster for one reason only!

Too much braking on Mean Streak. If CP would let the train go, the ride would be awesome

The ride is a total and utter let down.

What a huge ride and what a pathetic use of breaks!!

Take the ones out that are not really needed ( nearly all of them!) and let the ride run its course.

If I were CP i would seriously consider looking at this ride and making some drastic changes - better still remove the damn thing from the park entirely and build a brand new world class, world beating CCI coaster!!

They made big mistakes with this ride, believe me and I have rode over 50 better woodies than this!
