Who voted no to a B&M flyer at their park?

LoadedG said:

The question states: DO YOU WANT A B&M FLYER AT YOUR PARK?

YES or NO.

Yes you want the addition of a flyer OR NO, you DO NOT want a ROLLERCOASTER ADDITION AT ALL.

The question was NOT - DO you want a Flyer rather than something else, or first and foremost.

Unless you've ridden one (nobody has) and HATED it, there is no reason to honestly NOT want one.

7.1% of the poll takers are cukoo!

Yeah well I have my opinion and am entitled to it. No, I havn't ridden a B&M flyer but I have ridden a Flyer and it is My HUMBLE opinion that a few of them are enough. The are good rides but I have others I like much more.

Chuck, who has driven over 1000 miles three times in the last year just to ride CCI's.

I said no because I'm getting the Zamperla Flyer at my homepark. While the B&M might be more thrilling, SFEG needs to use their space to build different coasters, not the same type.

I'm proud to be one of the 7.1%. I've already got Batwing, and while I like the ride quite a bit, from a comfort level, nothing beats sitting down. B&M may make something more comfortable then the Vekoma product, but you're still on you're stomach. Besides, B&M's have become rather tame as of late.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

I voted no

what can I say, it's B&M

Jeremy-

No lambasting here. I hear your argument and understand where you come from. The prospect of TWO flyers at one park IS rather sillyas you and StevWoA point out, and didnt cross my mind. Also, you base your opinion on your experience on an existing flyer. Fair Enough.

Chuck, your final comment is rather offending, as I NEVER claim that MY opinion is the NOLY valid opinion. In fact, most of my posts are factual accounts or completely off-topic. My opinions are usually kept to myself, but I felt it was insane to not want a NEW coaster OF ANY KIND at your park. That's All. If it came across wrong, I apologize. I'll let you slide this time. :)

IMO, The 7.1% who vote that they dont want one ARE cukoo! :)

I voted "wait to see how it does" because you never know how it will turn out. B&M is a great company but it could still have flaws...look at X

Offending huh? Again, You call us 7.1% Cukoo.

Chuck, again saying whats wrong with wanting a CCI or a 4D over a B&M flyer? :)

And also to tick off the people who get worked up over polls.

Im with you there bud, I don't know what it is about looping coasters. With some exceptions they are all generally the same. I have to say my favorite looper is FOF followed by Kumba but those are a couple of the few that I make a effort to get too. Now I do love the Intamin Hypers, Maybe because they kinda ride simular to a woodie.

Yes, Chuck, I felt offended.

My cukoo comment was made tongue-in-cheek to emphasize how "I" feel about the poll.

Your comment was directed straight at ME and challenged my integrity. :(

What's wrong with wanting a CCI or 4D over a B&M flyer you ask?? Absolutley nothing wrong with that at all. I myself would probably prefer either one over a B&M flyer also. My personal favorites are Ghostrider #2 and X #3.

But my argument was that the poll didnt ask if you would PREFER a B&M Flyer OVER a different coaster. "Want one or NOT"? That's all. SteveWoA Intamin Fan and 2Hostyl made valid points as to why they wouldnt want one and I accept their reasonings,

but I STILL think that 7.8% (up from 7.1%) are cukoo! :)

Mr. G, who wouldve rather got a CCI at SFMM instead of Deja Vu, but sure is glad that Deja Vu is there!

I votes no too. As much as I like B&M, and my favorite coaster (Apollo's Chariot) is a B&M, I'm recently disappointed with there overall company. The rides are great, don't get me wrong, but the absolutely insane prices, combined with repetitive layouts, heck, I could probably see just a line for a layout of a B&M and be able to tell that it is a B&M. There rides are becoming more and more predictable IMO. They need to lower there prices and think of some new ideas instead of taking others. And I got to say that I'd take Cyclops at BCKC over RB any day! CCI rocks and V2 is my second favorite coaster and Eagle is my second favorite woodie. However these are not the most accurate things to say because of my somewhat small track record :( I think B&M's are just kind of pointless with the high costs. Afterall, other than us coaster folk, I could tell my friends that SFGAm was getting a B&M Flying, or I could tell them they were getting a Vekoma boomerang, and they wouldn't care which is which, they'd just go for the new coaster, the type and "brand" does not make a difference to the common public.

If parks are willing to pay what B&M charges for a coaster, then there is no problem. I don't here parks complaining about the cost of B&M's. As far as I can see, parks are eating up B&M's pretty consitently. As for the layouts, that is really more up to the park then the designer itself. If the park wanted a really off the wall layout, B&M will build it.

They need to lower there prices and think of some new ideas instead of taking others.

Whose idea's are they taking? Huh? The stand up concept was an old one, but i don't think they were "stealing" it, and I think we should admire B&M for really perfecting it, anyways. Lets just think about all of the incredible concepts B&M has materialized such as the floorless, the hyper trains, the zero g type loops found on so many rides, the flyers and of course, the BIG one: inverted coasters.

You're right, brand doesn't make a difference to the average Joe, but when parks buy a B&M they aren't just buying a brand. They are buying a coaster that they can be 99% sure that is going to be very popular, and more than likely very popular for at least the next 10 years, and probably more. They're also buying a coaster that is more than likely going to be completely comfortable for their guests, and will also have minimal mechanical problems. I sometimes have negative opinions about the qualities about a very small portion of Beemers, but I will never have a negative opinion about the value of the investment that they provide.

Well, Im sorry, The poll did not say Do you want a flyer or no coaster at all. I am saying this now that I didn't apreciate the KooKoo comment and I took it as a Insult to those who felt differently than you.

Personally Id rank any of my top ten wood over any looping coaster, Next comes SFNE's SROS, Vekomas flyer is nice, It is not something I would marathon on and this in effect dose not mean that B&M flyers won't be good.

But my argument was that the poll didnt ask if you would PREFER a B&M Flyer OVER a different coaster. "Want one or NOT"? That's all. SteveWoA Intamin Fan and 2Hostyl made valid points as to why they wouldnt want one and I accept their reasonings,

My answer is still no and I have given my reason. I have a Flyer 4hrs away and wood is my main preference.

I was not trying to stab you in the back, Just stating that whats wrong with being Kukoo?

but I STILL think that 7.8% (up from 7.1%) are cukoo!

Ten years huh? That's a pretty bold statement seeing as though less than a handfull of B&M coasters have even MADE it to ten years. And if you listen to enthusiast talk (which I often Dont) Iron Wolf is one of the least liked B&Ms. Hell, I even hear people complain about the Batman: The Ride coasters. (Blasphemy I tell you).

I know you love to play devil's advocate Jeremy, but really, those were B&M's first coasters ever. Don't you think they have progressed a lot over the years, and have fine tuned their engineering?

I think the newer B&M's will last a lot longer than Wolf has "lasted."

Look at BTR, they are building TWO this year, a full 10 years after the first one was built! How about that for a great prototype design.

Basically, the way B&M build 'em these days, I think they will last for quite some time.
