Where are the rides from Astroworld going??

Does anyone know where the rides from SFAW are going to show up next year. I had some ideas, but have heard nothing more about where they will end up.

My thoughts are this....the coasters should be divided up among the SF parks that have not recieved a coaster in a while like SFFT, SFA, SFDL, and some of the other SF properties like Frontier City and Great Escape and Enchanted Village. But in reality they had 10 coasters and a bunch of flat rides, some of which are very old and probably would be better off in the scrap heap than in a park, but most place could get some use out of most of them.

The only logical thing I could think of would be to send the Serial Thriller (SLC) to SFFT as they don't have an inverted coaster yet and it's not that far to transport it there, so costs would be lower.

Any other ideas??

I wish SFFT would get Texas Cyclone, but thats obviously not going to happen. I could care less about getting a hang n' bang. My park is fine the way it is.

I wouldn't mind taking an Anton combo though, and getting greezie and viper.

Right now we just don't know where the SFAW assets(ie rides) are going or when, although a six flags spokesperson was quoted as saying "that most rides will be redistributed throught our system of parks".

Now the only question is will they have enough time to dismantle the rides & send them off to the other locations before the 06 season begins? I actually doubt because look at how long it took viper from SFOG for example to find a new home at SFKK.

That ride was dismantled at the end of 01 & sat at SFOG until the end of 02 before being shipped off to SFKK where it opened in time for the 03 season.

The only ride in recent memory that ever left Astroworld and found new life elsewhere was Texas Tornado. Everything else was too ruined in the removal process (eg. Astroneedle, Excalibur, Sky Screamer).

This is, however, ASSUMING that Astroworld is going to be completely gone & Cedar Fair or any other potential owner won't buy it out instead and keep the park operating there as is.

...add Adventure Rivers and Great Texas Longhorn Review to that... truly very little passes though Houston and makes its way somewhere else.

I'm hoping the carousel, Greezed Lightnin', and Texas Cyclone dont hit the scrap, honestly don't care much about anything else.

The carousel will probably never hit the scrap. There is too much money to be made from collectors of memorabilia.

What is the plan for Ulta Twister? Still, one of the only heartline twister coasters in the country. Very unfortunate if the UT does not find a home.

I think it's a question of Six Flags seeing a need for some of the older coasters. Its it worth it to put them back up or not. I feel that most of the rides in this park will NEVER go up in other Six Flags Parks.

They don't have a "bunch" of flats either.. they have only a few.

I think some of the rides should go to their non six flags branded parks
Flat rides:
carousel
wave swinger (gunslinger)
trabant (wagonwheel)
looping starship
scrambler
troika (Warp 2000)
intamin 2nd gen freefall (dungeon drop)
S&S sky swatter

plus some misc. kiddie circle rides

that's it. The scrambler and trabant are as old as the park itself (1968) and the gunslinger's not much younger. I would predict the looping starship hits the junk pile as well.

I thought Cedar Fair was considering buying the park?

I think SWAT is goin to SFGADV.
I'm thinkin' SFKK, SFSTL, and SFEG are gonna inherit some used rides both flat and coaster. This is not always a bad thing mind you. :) (except for the folks that call SFAW home)

Or they may use some of the rides to rebuild(if they do) sfno.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think so too. That footprint in the 2006 project blueprints is just way too similar to a S&S Sky Swatter to be coincedental...

Six Flags New Orleans is in need of disaster relief.

I think Astroworld is closing at the right time.

If there ever was a right time.

Lets see, what do i need? :-)

Can we get the Viper back in SFStL? The Ninja was a poor trade for that.

I have heard the SWAT to GAdv rumor also.

I've seen videos of it but wonder what kind of ride it actually delivers. Could be a good addition to GAdv since it does desperately need flat rides to go with it's great lineup of coasters.

Why does everyone think Swat is going to SFGRADV?they're getting El Tora & a pre-designed section of rides to go with it(so I hear) & that's it.

Any of SFAW's rides will not be going to SFGRADV,SFMM or SFOG as those parks have already made...& are in the early stages of following through on their 06 cap ex projects....I did see that SFA's season passes for 06 are going up to $80 (full price via the FF email I recieved)for 06 so they better plan on a major attraction to justify that rediculous price increase.
