What's going on with Cedar Fair?

As of today Cedar Point has discontinued FreeWay stamps and ride again passes for inconvenienced guests.

Dumb.

I suppose it's not the end of the world---I've seen lines a good 20 minutes to get a stamp for the Big Two, while most of the others don't really need it. Plus, no one ever seemed to understand it *and* only 10% of the ride was given over to stamps.

But still---penny wise and pound foolish.

On the bright side, no one is stealing time from other guests anymore.

I hope this means CP wont go with a SF type pay deal. If they do, i say you can put the nail in the coffin...
NOW DD IS BEING SOLD!
I wish CF would transfer DD to MA the park needs a drop ride.
Or maybe the thing costs so much money to maintain and also to move, it would not bea wise decision to move it to MA.

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
I hope whatever DD & MHNF are replaced with are awesome.
Ok, I read a lot of the posts in this thread, not all, so now I will put in my 2 cents worth. My family and I live in a Detroit suburb, in 2001, 02, and 03 we were season pass holders and made between 4 and 6 multi day trips to CP. This year, and last, we decided not to buy season passes, last year we made two trips to CP, one 2 day trip and one 1 day trip. This year we have only been there once, back in mid June. One of the biggest reasons for our decline in trips to the park is the fact that my kids, ages 13 and 14, are starting to loose interest in the park, basicly they are getting bored with it. I myself am still a huge fan and if one of my kids walked up to me today and said, "can we go to the point?", I wouldn't be able to pack my bags fast enough. Maybe I just spoiled them way to much, taking them so many times when they were younger. That coupled with outragous gas prices, ticket prices, parking, food, drinks, hotel, and all the rest and I can't justify spending that kind of money a half a dozen times a year.

There are other factors involved, my son is now in high school and football starts in early Aug., which kinda cuts a month off of summer, and my daughter has developed quite a social life of her own. But the biggest remaining factor is, do I really want to dump that kind of money for "something to do"? I didn't mind spending like that when it was something they couldn't wait to do. Just my 2 cents worth.

Been going to the Point for over 30 years and still love it!!!!!!!!!!!
I think your comments have sunk in. It seems CP is looking at pricing strategies. It's starting with senior, junior, and local. We'll see how that translates to next season.

I've been losing interst in many parks I frequent a lot. Perhaps, during the early summer months when the kids are out of school, go on to different parks. Perhaps you can skip going to the point a season or two, and then go back.

I got bored with Kings Island Really quick... especially once the Flyers left.

I find myself doing other vacations now.

Since your kids are getting older, perhaps you can go solo to the Point or head up there with the Wife for a couple days.

Heck... even take a day off of work and do Coastermania
