What will be the next coaster to break the tallest and fastest in the world?

I admit I'm not like many enthusiasts. Dragster doesn't interest me in the least. Oh sure...I'll ride it when I get to CP next -- I have not been since 2001 -- but nothing built at CP since Millie has gotten me to spend the money to fly out from Los Angeles to visit the park.

It has nothing to do with records. It has to do with what the ride offers.

I think Maverick would surprise you. I was in on some of the early marketing, and at the time I wasn't really impressed. But I was shocked the day I finally got to ride it. And oddly enough, I met my wife that day too!

I don't know if Maverick is worth a trip from LA to Cleveland -- not sure what single ride would justify such a journey -- but it certainly is a fun ride. I brought a non-enthusiast friend on it on Tuesday, and he giggled through the whole thing.

I agree, I don't think one single ride is worth that trip. But if you look at the park as a whole and what is new since 2001 then yea, that is worth a trip.

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

As to the original question about where the next record would be. My bet is on SFMM. There was a rumor awhile back that they were thinking of scrapping Superman in favor of a rocket coaster. If any U.S. park is going to build a coaster taller than Kingda Ka, SFMM and that rumor seem the most likely suspect. I'm not saying it's going to happen just that it's the most prospect.

If the coaster at Carowinds is themed to Dale Earnhart as is also rumored, then the record shattering history making statements may be more associated with him than the ride.

Dale Earnhart theme or a red coaster named White Lightnin'. Only the people who thought the name Flight Deck would sell t-shirts would do either.

Seriously?...you actually believe that? Come on, John! ;)

I believe it was Mr Spock who once said, " When you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth."

USA only- I don't know about international parks and there limitations

Impossible - Cedar Point & SF New Jersey investing more $ in their rides to make them taller.

Impossible - Other parks without the budget, land, or market to build such a ride investing in it.

Improbable - SFMM scrapping/redesigning Superman into a new rocket. Possitive -The land is already there. There is a market for a tall ride. Negative -Budget may not be there.

No I don't believe it but as I said it is the most likely suspect to answer the original posters question. Or can you think of another suspect USA park for tallest coaster.

Your logic is fallacious. To make it work, you must begin with the axiom that "Somewhere, someday, somebody must build a taller coaster than exists now." When clearly there is nothing to support that supposition.

I find it amazing that since Millie was built, one ONE other coaster has topped it in the "Best Steel," catagory, and that was for only one year.

A more accurate question would be "Can any coaster knock MF of it's throne FOR GOOD? By for good, I mean winning best steel for three or more consecutive years.

^^What poll is that according to? I seem to recall that maybe Bizarro (Superman Ride of Steel SFNE) and Expedition G Force in Europe have given MF plenty of competition in the polls...

According to Mitch's Steel Coaster Poll, Millie has never been ranked #1. Here are Millie's rankings since the ride opened

2008 - 12
2007 - 4
2006 - 6
2005 - 3
2004 - 4
2003 - 3
2002 - 3
2001 - 3

Sorry, Hopman. Not sure what poll you're referring to....

Here are AT's Steel Rankings since Millie debuted:

2000 - #2
2001 - #1
2002 - #1
2003 - #2
2004 - #1
2005 - #1
2006 - #2
2007 - #2
2008 - #2

FYI, I checked Mitch's site for the 2000 steel results but could not find them. Even his year-to-year comparison skips that year.

Okay, I was wrong about that. Let's just say, according to AT, Mille's been on the podium since she was built.

If it's themed to Earnhart then it will only run once due to it taking a hard right turn into a wall.

I'm pretty sure that quote was Sherlock Holmes.

And I'm pretty sure Shapiro won't be putting in any record breakers.
