Currently Kingda Ka is the tallest and fastest coaster in the world. What park will hold the next recored breaker for height and speed and what year do you think it will be built?
Its already under construction for the speed record!
Ring Racer at the Nurburgring racing track in Germany is an S&S air launched coaster that will reach 134.8 mph on the launch. It was supposed to open in june, but its delayed and should open next week.
A rollercoaster in Abu Dhabi is rumored to be beating that record, along with a real rollercoaster layout after. Its an Intamin creation and the stats I heard would be over 140 mph, along with thousands of feet of track.
I'm still waiting for 500 ft deuling flyers. :)
I'm willing to bet that MAYBE CP might try and break it. Hell, they were the first to break, smash, and blow up the 200, 300, and 400 foot height barriers respectivly.

I hoping for the day when the tallest, and fastest madness finally comes to an end. Unfortunately, as long as CF, and SF have the money, and the audience to sell those type of rides to, they will keep biulding them.
There is hope on the horizon though, in the form of Intamins Megalite coasters. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the "Est" generation.

I think that day may have already passed in terms of the height record. As for speed, who knows. Personally I'll save my dollar when it comes to Ring Racer.
I call Cedar Point my home park even though I live in the Chicago Suburbs.
Building a ride just to break a record without consideration of the ride quality I hope has ended. I feel that rides like SOB, TTD, KK and even Pilgrims Plunge leave quite a bit on the table as to ride quality. Sure they broke records when they were built, and some are even fun. But all could have been so much better.
Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.
^Agreed! I wonder what went on in the original meeting for TTD...
"Okay boss, here's my proposition. We're going to launch a train 120 miles per hour, and shoot it straight up a 420-foot hill. Then it plummets vertically back down!"
"Wow, that sounds great. Then what happens?!"
"Umm, nothing. That's it."
"Uhh... okay..."

Thanks Dvo I needed that... :)
Honestly though, the coaster wars basically ended with Kingda Ka being built. Sure some are reportedly going to be faster, but the hight barrier is pretty much going to stay as it is.
I suspect Cedar Fair is done chasing those stupid records. Building a "small" ride like Maverick is hopefully indicative of this.

Well I suppose down time could be considered for records too ;)

I just think that they should make a ride over 400 feet that brings you up the hill with a chain lift...that would be awesome and scarier
Can't use only one chain...it would be too heavy. Steel Dragon 2000, at just over 300 feet, needed 2 chains.
I predict
500 foot
150 mph
540 degree spiraling vertical plunge
6500 feet long
Park: SFMM
Year: 2015
LMAO
I doubt well see anymore huge Intamin Rockets since Both SF/CF both seam to agree the made huge mistakes by purchasing the ones they already own.
I'd love to see a ride over 400 feet too, but instead of old tech like a chain, I would want to see elevator lift system like MF or a lim lift like Maverick.
I really think we are going to hear some record-breaking announcements soon.

Yea thats what I meant. I 400 foot roller coaster with a cable lift system would probably def make you sh** your pants...that would be amazing...I mean if you look at hershey park's new ride it has a great idea with the slow incline and then more than straight vertical drop (inwards)...the ride enthusiasts were very impressed with that ride (I think its called farhenheit)..make it like that but 400 feet
Ryan, I would so puke on that! LOL

You could
EASILY break a drop record by digging a trech and let the drop go underground.
Better yet, just build a coaster inside the Grand Canyon.

Yeah, Dan. Not exactly where I was going, but that works too.
Carowinds said that their new coaster will break some kind of record. Kings Dominion's new coaster is rumored to break a record or two. This Holiday World thing is likely to also.
Then Cedar Point is announcing something soon, and they are well known to break records.
We've not yet seen the end the "-est" coaster.
