And I'm not a big fan of just the out and back style.
Of course, there's no written rule saying Morgan can only build out n backs. Just playing devil's advocate here.

I'm wondering, it seems that the artifical smoke is gone from Top Gun, (used to come up from the floor underneath the cars when it dispatched, as well as from the third tunnel of Adventure Express. I just wonder if its some sort of health/enivronmental issue.
Yes, I realize that Tomb Raider has the artificial smoke and fog but thats an indoor attraction, and the only other place I recall seeing it at the park is FearFest which was a seperate gate evening attraction, (and artificial fog is to be expected at halloween events).
And funny you should mention the Flight of Fear exit, I recently heard music in that hallway I hadn't heard before.
One thing the park needs to do is to decide if they *really* want an Oktoberfest section or don't they.
Right now the only things in that section that scream Oktoberfest are the Beer Garten and the outside facade of the "Festhaus". (One you go into the Festhaus the bavarian murals have been stripped from the walls, the german music has been removed from the stage, german food has been removed from the menu, and some of the long wooden bench tables have given way to plastic round tables) Seriously, if they aren't going to use the Festhaus for shows, they should remove the last remants of the festhaus theming and name and convert it into a new facility. A nice sit down or buffet style restuarant would be perfect. (Though I have also heard rumours that they have at least thought of a GameWorks/Jillian's/Dave&Busters concept for the space)
Right about now, I would probably consider removing the Oktoberfest section if they aren't going to use the theme and just enlarge the Action Zone to include this real estate, it might be an even easier move now that Viking Fury is essentially obsolete. (Hey we can move it to Hanna Barbera Land :) )

You are right about Oktoberfest. It used to be a VERY nice area with good flat rides and a VERY nice euro feel. They could revive it easily. Retheme Adventure Express to an alpine mountain railroad, put the wave swiner where the spinnen kegger used to be (wave swinger is a nice euro looking ride, and install a good euro flat ride such as a himalaya where the skylab used to be.
Right now, the area is just sloppy.
Ah yes ravenguy,
Morgan doesn't HAVE to build out n backs but it's their style and rairly ever make anything different. The only one that isn't out n back that I can think of is Phantom's Revenge. And even so, it has an out n back section!
Coasterville Dave,
The fog on TRTR has been a problem. After they've used it for awhile throught the day, it builds up and sets off the fire alarm. Of course, this was at the beginning of the season and it's relavily fixed.
I disagree 100% about Oktoberfest. I don't see why EVERY section of the park has to be loaded with rides, I think Oktoberfest adds a nice break in the action from everywhere else in the park. Same principal, I would say, with Fronteir Trail at CP. I think Oktoberfest is a very nice little area of the park, and it really isn't needed for future expansion. I don't see what's wrong with just having "nice" areas without coasters and things zooming by every 2 minutes. And the food in Festhaus is pretty good already. I don't see what the point of just putting in a new resteraunt would suit.
As for Morgan, I realize that they rarely deviate from the out n backs, but that's clearly because that's what the parks have requested. They haven't built a twister because nobody has asked for one!
And lastly, it hurts to hear "Viking Fury is now essentially obsolete." I mean, its a huge swinging ship, and I've never been to another park with one of that size. Its unique, and in my five visits to PKI in 2001, it always seemed pretty popular. Its setting is perfect right there over the water, and it was probably the first big thrill ride I ever went on. I don't see what good moving it or removing it would do, if only for a new ride that would possible damage the prettiness of the area, and could probably be put anywhere else in the park.

Ravenguy98 -
I'm all for peaceful tranquil sections of parks, as long as they don't look neglected. In PKI's case the Festhaus is now a disgrace, and the overall theming in the Oktoberfest area has deteriorated over the years.

Festhaus food used to be good, when they actually served German food. Now it's all crappy Italian (not that Italian is crappy, just *that* Italian is crappy. It's hard to screw up bratwurst).
But I would still say PKI has the best food of any park. That's probably because I love LaRosa's Pizza and that's the only thing I ever eat there. I also love Skyline but I have one of those near my house, so I don't waste precious stomach space that could be filled with pizza. ;)

I didn't say that Face/Off was a bad ride. I like it it is really fun. But I am closer to Six Flags, Cedar Point, and Kennywood and I wouldn't travel there for thier steel. And Six Flags America is only about an hour longer away and they have S:ROS.

Food at PKI good?
Which food stands are you eating at? I mean how can you put the fast-food fare of PKI above some truly good park food, at say Knoebels, or the cafeteria of Kennywoood, or Indiana Beach.
When it comes to food, usually the small traditional parks do it better. Of the big corporate chains, only Busch seems to know how to cook and serve quality food.

The food at PKI is 'blandific' at its best, and 'barftabulous' at its worst. I'm really hard pressed to find something I enjoy eating there, and I'm far from picky.

....the Busch parks are where the food really IS good....at PKI, you get "nutrition" and move on....;). Perhaps what PKI "really" needs is people who really *know* how to use the microwave...LOL.
Wtf? I didn't realize the festhaus didn't have the German food anymore! I always eat at Skyline or get a slice of pizza, and then if I really want a MEAL, I go to the thai place across from my sister's house in Batavia. Oh well, my point still kinda stands, the food in Festhaus USED to be good, but I don't think that detracts from the theming OUTSIDE.
And I still like Oktoberfest. Its just an itty bitty area of the park, that if you think about it, really hasn't changed much at all in the past 10 years or so. Its a pertty section of a really pretty park, and I'd rather not have it screwed with. If it ain't broke, I suppose.

Okay, as has been well documented, if it aint Chicago pizza, it has *little* chance of pleasing me. But if they serve Larossa's in the Festhaus as well then HELL NO I will have no part in that. My father and sis got some pizza in the Festhaus and it *looked* disgusting. They held a concurring opinion about the taste of it as well.
And how can *anybody* NOT appreciate the food at the Disney properties, especially EPCOT. The fact that EPCOT has not won best food in these so-called award programs shows me that they have limited probative value. Like the show in "The Land" proclaims, Disney "FOOD ROCKS"!

And in my opinion, I'd rather have a skinny one if it tastes better. And Nathan's actually have a lot of flavor, if you ask me. Of course, Chicagoans have your fat hotdogs but then choose to put 10 different toppings on at a time. That sure does tell ME somethin'.
(And I'd rather have my skinny crust NYC style pizza, too.)
EDIT: Oh yeah, you are completely correct about EPCOT's food. The selction is unbelievable, but how many people who vote in those polls have even BEEN to Epcot? Its unfortunate that some people are so singularly obsessed with coasters, coasters, coasters, because I found the park to be one of the best park experiences of my life.

Disney, as a whole, is a marvelous dining experience. When my ex-girlfriend and I used to go for weeks at a time, we sat down and planned out where we would eat every meal, and made reservations months in advance. Not just Epcot, but the hotel restaurants, as well.
PKI's pizza is just wrong. Those of you that enjoy it must also like eating cardboard.
